You want to learn how to kill a very active board?

Just go over and look at what Foxsports has done to BamaMag, if you can. 12 years and >22,000 posts and I can't even log on to post right now. What a freakin' joke.

I wonder if it really is true that Bart Simpson's dad is the one who runs that company? Thousands of dissatisfied members would agree today if you were to ask them.

Sad.

Mick,

understand your pain... Glad Tidefans is here... What was Kirk and crew thinking?

RTR!!!

Shadenfreude is a big factor. And after losing 6 in a row to them and having to hear it from Barn fans for most of this century, I applaud the Auburn dissing. Payback is, well, payback.

I agree. I enjoy the Auburn dissing. And the new Scout/Fox site is just plain awful.

Awesome post BET & you're 100% correct..The day Jay died..So did the forum..I always enjoyed his posts..He was a god man, great Bama Fan & I really miss reading his posts..
Jay was a close friend of mine. I'll admit I cried when I heard the final news. Bladder cancer has to be one of the cruelest diseases which can afflict a man. Liz and I saw him outside B-D about six weeks before the end. They had just found that it had come back and metastasized. It moved so fast from there that I called him two weeks later and he'd already had to give up his apartment and move down back in with his mom and dad, with his dad wheelchair-bound. Sad, sad, sad, for a man so young...

Yes, Jay was a good guy and a great moderator. Very difficult thing, to allow people their freedom of speech and still maintain an attitude where everyone works in a positive direction, but that was Jay. The scholarship the BM guys put together to honor him was one of the better things I have ever seen come out of message board traffic.

I have been posting here for awhile now, almost always on the baseball board. I am pretty sure I will never post as often as I have in the past on BamaMag, but when I do have something to offer I will step in and give it a go.

The Barn threads don't bother me. (Hey! The one I started is off the front page!!). They mostly seem to be for humor and there are probably similiar numbers on all boards for threads about a team's arch rival.

I enjoy this board for several reason's. Mainly because it is free. I click on ads here some to help the ad revenue. I like the zero tolerence they have for profanity and personal attacks. I also like the discussions, we have a good mix of posters which gives us a wide range of viewpoints.

I've been a member there for about seven years. Now I can't even log into the new site. From what I see, the new site is bland and colorless.

It really feels like to me that over the past 3 years or so that BamaMag has lagged behind the rest of the recruiting sites. And it looks like that gap has increased today. Theres not much going on at all on their insider boards. They update less frequently than rivals or bamaonline. The competition is just flat out better...which is why I dumped em earlier this year. Now I certainly dont regret that decision.

Whatever investment they made in acquiring the site, Fox really messed it up in the implementation and are losing on ROI.

Did they not even Beta test it somewhere before rolling it out?!? STUPID decisions lead to predictable results.

I posted frequently over there and it WAS a good board. Hated to see it go. As far as the Auburn posts, I don't think it was much worse than any other site. Let's face it, most people enjoy seeing their enemy suffering. At least I do. Nothing wrong with really enjoying their misery.

And now they've got this deal where half the time when you click on a topic or try to post they connect you to some other Foxsports link. My lord, what a bunch of blithering idiots.

I truly hope that Kirk sold that site to them and didn't let them do this as some sort of business partner, because the majority of posters who do make it through are more interesting in canceling than they are in talking about Alabama sports. My goodness what a mess.

I wouldn't mind a "redesign." What I mind is that I can't get into the new board at all through IE. It just tells me I need to download version 8+ or higher while I'm trying to get in with version 9...HELLO!!! I can get in through Chrome, but that is NOT my preferred browser and I'll be durned if I'm going to be forced to use it.

As for my preference, I liked the bamamag free board quite well, liked some of its long-time posters a lot, but I'm sure glad that this board is still here and still "as usual." And a big shout-out to Allie for all the links she looks up for us!!!

So Chrome works, but others do not?? Hmmmm - wonder why that might be?
