Hey all,

I was thinking back about what is the first bowl that I remember watching....and for me it was the 1976 Liberty Bowl vs UCLA. I remember an INT TD from Barry Krauss I think -- and two of my favorite players Johnny Davis and Tony Nathan -- and some guy named Ozzie played too.

Someone may have to help me -- but was Wingo on that team? I remember my Dad kept telling me one of the LBs was Coach Bryant's "Headhunter" and I think it was Rich Wingo --

I have more vivid memories of the 1979 Sugar Bowl -- but the 76 Liberty still stands out for me!

Bama 36, UCLA 6!

My first memory of a bowl game was probably 1989 Sugar vs. Miami. We were excited because my Brother went down with his wife (girlfriend back when she was at Bama). I know I watched plenty before 89 (was only 9 during this bowl) but this is the first one I can remember off the top of my head right now.

1993 Sugar Bowl vs Miami. I was only 2 years old when it was played, but around 7 when I watched the game after my dad broke out the VHS of the 1993 Sugar Bowl. That's when I really started getting into football.

The first bowl game I remember seeing live was the 2000 Orange Bowl. I wish I could forget it.

The 1964 Sugar Bowl. Alabama actually made four field goals to beat Ole Sis 12-7. I believe Joe Namath was suspended for the game and Steve Sloan was the QB.

New Year's Day 1979 - #2 Bama vs. #1 Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. Goal line stand sealed National Championship for the Tide! I was 11 years old and have been hooked on Bama football ever since.

Same here I was young and the next day they found my grandfather dead on the side of the road he had been riding his bicycle and had a heart attack. So I blamed it on ND at the time. LOL. I sure wish we could play them again

Wow, that is very heavy. I'm sorry that he passed that way......

1963 Orange Bowl, Paul Bear Bryant-Bud Wilkinson, Lee Roy Jordan, Joe Willy Namath...even the President, JFK came to the game. 17-0 BAMA. It was the game that made me a BAMA fan, I was 11 years old.

me too. it was also the first bama game i can really remember watching. i was 6.

I kind of became intrigued with Bama on my own even with both parents being alumni. My first full season keeping up was the 79 season, my first bowl game watched was the 76 Sugar Bowl, but first remembrance is the best, listening to the 74 season's Orange Bowl on the radio against Notre Dame. I vividly remember watching Bama lose to Missouri on TV which I believe was the following season's first game.
