YouTube.TV drops Disney/ESPN/ABC & an alternate

Trying to get the Purdue @ Bama hoops game last night was maddening. I tried to do the ESPN app - never worked. I then tried a couple of other options, no dice. Finally, I did a 1-day sling orange option and got it. Disaggregation is not good for the consumer - except in a few edge cases. It's bad enough having to have the different platforms (appleTV, primevideo, paramount+, etc) for the occasional movie or series.

YTTV has to get ESPN back on or I'm going elsewhere (fuboTV most likely) because I refuse to try and configure (and remember) multiple apps to watch the handful of channels I actually watch. I also don't care about most of the sports on sports packages (NBA, NHL, soccer, etc).

What is happening right now in the streaming market in general (not just YTTV) is exactly why digital piracy is on the rise yet again. The harder and more fractured they make the experience, the more they are driving people to a more convenient (but often illegal) option. This video is a good take on what I'm talking about:

If you are a college basketball fan, then Fubo is not a good choice for March Madness since they do not have TBS, TNT, and TruTV. Also, don't forget to add $15-$16 if your plan includes RSNs. Fubo doesn't make this clear upfront, and it is not included in the prices they show you for their plans until the end of the sign-up process.

I'm going to keep singing the praises of the DirecTV Genre packs if you only care about sports channels. The MySports pack is only $69.99 and gives you all the major sports channels, including the ones I mentioned above. It even includes the major news networks if you care for that. You can add your RSNs for an additional $19.99, which makes it just a little more than YTTV. Yes, it has fewer channels overall, but it covers all the sports stuff.

Take your $20 credit and buy the $30 espn unlimited. For $10 extra you can watch all the football and basketball games you want to with no more stress and frustration. Or just cancel YTTV and use the espn plan for the season and save money.

Any of you ever heard of Lucky TV? You have to get it on a firestick or something comparable. I tried to get it in place of the streaming giants but couldn't get it to work. It appears to skirting the line of legal but currently it is. Just wondering if others have heard of or use it.

Watched it on YouTube. There were about a half dozen streams available... :cool:
 
Does anyone have any experience with TabloTV? It won't solve the ESPN problem, but with that, it looks like I can easily kill YTTV and keep everything I watch there for the cost of an attic antenna and this device. I'm about 25-35 miles from the broadcast towers so smaller indoor antennas don't work that well for me. Then I can just get ESPN for the 4 months or so I need it. TabloTV
