Alabama's offensive coordinator has interviewed for the vacant San Jose State head coaching job, according to a report by the Bay Area NBC Affiliate station.
I hate that, but I knew it was coming. He even had offers last year. I think that, if he held on another couple of years, even better openings might come up...

Re: McElwain interviewing for San Jose St HC

He's a good one, imo - figured we'd only have him for a couple of years.

The fun part about having Saban is every time he replaces someone, it's an upgrade!

Re: Jim McElwain interviews with San Jose State

How much control does McElwain have of the Tide offense? Is he in full control?

He's done a great job, so just wondering...

Re: McElwain interviewing for San Jose St HC

It would be a good fit for him..If he waits another year I think his name will come up for some better schools though..Cause next year our offense will be absolutely sick..

Nobody has complete control on a Saban-coached team but CNS. Example - in the UA/AU game, Bama last drive, CJM wanted to run it in from the four. CNS called TO, overruled to a pass in the flat for the TD...

Re: Jim McElwain interviews with San Jose State

McElwain has done an outstanding job! I'm glad to see he's getting some attention; he certainly deserves to move up the ranks to an HC position. Hate to lose him; but I'm in his corner all the way re his career advancement.

I agree with the poster who opined that he could probably do better than SJS. I think he's the real deal.

I Liked his offensive style. I don't know how much of it was him and how much was CNS, but together it was a dream for an old fan like me, that likes power football.
I think it would be a bigger loss than CKS leaving.

I just hope that, should he decide to take the job, he is allowed to coach Bama through the BCSCG...
He's done a heck of a job here, but in my opinion if he doesn't get the job at San Jose State, Nick Saban should still look for someone else, this isn't exactly a good time to go looking for another job right before the BCSNCG.

This isn't the time to be looking for another job. It's a terrible distraction and unprofessional. If he'd like to go to San Jose St., then great...he just better know he isn't welcome here if he doesn't get hired there.

Sorry, I know it's an improvement for him blah blah blah. I just think this is terrible timing.

This is the ONLY time for coaches. I know many. It is now or wait another year. CNS understands - so should we...
