It's interesting that Saban is so committed to helping his assistants up and out, he trains them on how to interview...

I think any OC for Bama is going to get a lot of input from Saban and maybe Pendry for that matter. I think most of our staff see things and really help each other out...neither side of the ball is one man's job.

Any Saban offense is going to look for balance if it can help it, and this year we found it. I don't too much worry about play calling or gameplanning should Coach Mac leave, but he is one hell of a QB coach

That makes perfect sense. CNS is selling blue chip athletes and up-and coming coordinators the same way, advancement.

I'll have to sneak over and check some barn boards in the morning to see what those inbreds are spewing about CJM interviewing. 10 to 1 they will be saying CNS is such a butthole to work for or CJM is leaving before the death penalty hits.. Should make for some good humor.

He's done a very good job for us so far. I can understand him, or anyone wanting to be a head coach, but if it were me, i would hold out for a better job than that. JMO.

Why did they contact him now? Wait til after the NC game. He doesn't need distractions right now.

You cannot blame him if he leaves now. That's what all coaches who move to new jobs do (Kelly, Strong, etc). The new school want them to start recruiting immediately and who could blame them. I certainly don't, even if he is playing for the Natl Championship...

CJM is not ready to be a head coach anywhere, yet. CNS openly complained (in a mild way) about our offense not being "explosive" enough, by not going down the field with long passes more frequently. I believed this started about week 8 (not sure). CJM may have thought GMAC didn't have the arm strength or accuracy to complete such passes. But, as CNS stated, there is a very good reason for doing so, even if you don't complete the pass, and I think with Julio we have a talent who could catch his share of those passes.
I think CJM will be a great HC one day, but I think he is at least a year or two away from taking on that challenge.

That's the only thing that makes sense to me. If he really wants a decent HC job, all he has to do is wait until after the bowl games. The coaching carousel will take it's toll in January, and some really decent HC jobs will become available.

I commented, either above or elsewhere, that, when he took the Fresno St. job, in an interview, he went on at great length about being a "western guy," and how happy he was to get back west and near family...

First of all, when is it a good time for a Coach to leave for another team? College Football is an around the year job. You have recruiting, evaluating the talent that is left on the team so you can recruit certain positions. Signing day is less then a month away from the BCS. Look at Saban first recruiting class. How important was getting Ro in that first class? Especially when the stability at the HC position is pretty shaky. Everybody wants instant results.

What is a good job? Do you think Utah was a good job before Urban Meyer went there? About Nick Saban's first job Toledo. Check out Brian Kelley's coaching jobs. I bet you ask CMS and CCW that they would of perfer starting small before landing their dream jobs at UA and ND. I believe it is important for a coach to learn about his position at less pressure environment. Listen to Kelly's speech at ND. The big schools will not allow you to prepare yourself. For those who think CNS did not learn anything from CJM. CBB said one time, you do not quit learning as HC.

I have absolutely no problem with CJM taking a head coaching job. I'm sure he deserves it.

Also have no problem with him leaving now. The Fresno head coach was generous in encouraging CJM to take our job and I'm sure CNS will be equally as generous. It's the law of the jungle and it gives us more time to hire a suitable replacement.

Coach Mac, it would be nice if you stayed another year, but if you leave, I hope you become another great success story.

Like I said earlier, not to worry if he leaves. Just like last yr when we lost Coach Steele, rest assured that Nick already has a plan in place to deal with it, when he promoted KS and brought on board Coach Willis--which ended up being an overall improvement of the staff if you ask me.

This isn't the time to be looking for another job. It's a terrible distraction and unprofessional. If he'd like to go to San Jose St., then great...he just better know he isn't welcome here if he doesn't get hired there.

Sorry, I know it's an improvement for him blah blah blah. I just think this is terrible timing.

If you think it is unprofessional, you obviously don't pay attention to the coaching profession very closely. This is just the way things are done. He has done a very good job for us the last two years. If he can move up the ladder, we should wish him the best of luck. I do agree that the timing doesn't help us in our preparation for the championship game, but I am hoping that he finishes the season with us if he is hired. Roll Tide.

Speaking of coaching vacancies, I also think there is a fairly good chance we will lose Pendry this year. It will be interesting to see what our offensive staff looks like next year. At least the new guys will have a lot of talent to work with and a lot fewer bad habits to fix than this staff.

I don't think he will be a HC anywhere....he is already too old for that IMO...he is a VERY VERY good assistant coach and nothing more...it is all he has ever done at both the college level and in the NFL. I could see him going somewhere for a OC position but I couldn't even begin to speculate as to where there will be no telling how many OC jobs are out there. I'll tell you what though he has been one heck of an OL coach the job he has done this yr after losing what we lost is flat out amazing...
