Colt McCoy is a pretty good QB and should fare well in the NFL but he struggles against pressure. He is not a college phenom QB like Vince Young, Tim Tebow or Mike Vick. he has to have time in the pocket and open recievers.
If we can catch you guys biting on the counter, if we have Tre Newton or Fozzy Whittaker (bad ... name!) at RB they can turn it into a huge gain.
If you guys stay home and dare us to run to beat you, well we can't really run and will probably just try to PA pass you to death
What an uneducated thread topic. I could use stronger words but this is a gentleman's forum, correct? (look left), Am I not right? (looks right)
Very often, close to 50% of the time the second place wins because of this very attitude. Obviously the poster wasn't conscience during the 93 Sugar Bowl were questions like these were endlessly asked to Tide players to the fans advantage.
I honestly don't think that PA is really going to help you. CNS defenses are very disciplined and they're just not going to bite on that, as a rule. Your primary running plays are the QB draw and the scramble, so there're be somebody staying back waiting for that. It really does take a credible running game to sell PA...possibly an extra half step for receivers to get deep?
it was more of a joke at our lack or reliable running game
but if its so lopsided that you guys start thinking we have to run eventually, we could get lucky on a PA.
our run game is so bad because our line can't hold stretch blocks long enough, and it is ridiculously simple and predictable. Its like the coaches think talent will triumph the prep of other teams, but it hardly works, especially against good teams.
Ask any horn what they think of Greg Davis and the run game, watch them explode in frustration haha
This has been about beaten to death in the other thread, but, from what we've seen all year, expect heavy pressure from the beginning, with only a handful of blitzes per game...I know, it was more of a joke, well, actually a complete joke to point out how useless our run game is.
I've got more football knowledge than that lol
its interesting though, even with no run game we won all our games.
sure Nebraska and OU gave us fits, but that was with pressure by the front four, not blitzing like you guys run. Blitzing opens holes in the D and gives us a chance, pressure from the DT just ruins our day lol

I'm not sure I know what you mean.
Are you saying the front 3 with be bringing heavy pressure?
*sigh**sigh* Expect to see nickel and dime on almost every down because of the personnel groupings that Texas uses. Now, it's extremely possible that one of the four men with his hand down will be listed at linebacker on the roster, if it makes you feel better to say he's blitzing, feel free. When Alabama does blitz it will most often be 5 pass rushers, not a jail break.
