Colt McCoy is a pretty good QB and should fare well in the NFL but he struggles against pressure. He is not a college phenom QB like Vince Young, Tim Tebow or Mike Vick. he has to have time in the pocket and open recievers.

You need to read the other thread. Tebow is a fraud the real Superman/Jesus is McCoy. He doesn't need to see his receivers, he doesn't need a throwing lane, or to plant his feet. He simply WILLS the ball to his receivers! He doesn't care about pressure. Chuck Norris wears Colt McCoy pajamas and wishes he were as cold as Colt! The only chance we have is to sack McCoy 15 times, and that probably won't be enough.:biggrin:

Texas had some ugly games, we had some ugly games...should be an epic matchup. I think anyone who is predicting an easy Bama win is very misguided.

It's also the only non goal line run play that ever works. You guys should be ready for it.

Honestly we have 4 run plays excluding our jumbo package
Zone read
Zone stretch
Counter
Draw / shovel pass

we substitute short passes for our running game, that is why Colts avg yards per completion is lower, and his accuracy higher than it probably would be otherwise.

If we can catch you guys biting on the counter, if we have Tre Newton or Fozzy Whittaker (bad ... name!) at RB they can turn it into a huge gain.
If you guys stay home and dare us to run to beat you, well we can't really run and will probably just try to PA pass you to death

Very often, close to 50% of the time the second place wins because of this very attitude. Obviously the poster wasn't conscience during the 93 Sugar Bowl were questions like these were endlessly asked to Tide players to the fans advantage. Bama came out hitting so hard, their mama's felt it.

Coach's Bryant, Stallings and Saban would chew you a new one if you asked. RESPECT YOUR OPPONENT, no matter if it's East Popcorn State.

Remember in Coach Saban's eyes, we are part of his system. Our role, besides the money aspect. To show class and respect the opponents are a couple to remember. For example, show up and make noise at Bryant Denny for some of the smaller schools we play.

Saban defenses are known for assignment-keeping and staying home. The AU game was an anomaly for five minutes - keep in mind our four days of prep vs. their two weeks. But what does PA get you when nobody believes you'll really run?

but if its so lopsided that you guys start thinking we have to run eventually, we could get lucky on a PA.

our run game is so bad because our line can't hold stretch blocks long enough, and it is ridiculously simple and predictable. Its like the coaches think talent will triumph the prep of other teams, but it hardly works, especially against good teams.
Ask any horn what they think of Greg Davis and the run game, watch them explode in frustration haha

Its hard to predict bowl games sometimes i think alabama should win but we will just have to wait and see what happens...i don't underestimated texas and i think they have a great program. at the same time there fans back handed compliments get on my nerves. ill say this i don't care how alabama wins this game....it can be another ugly 22-3 victory like over ole miss for all i care...where leigh tiffin is the darn MVP for the BCS title game. i really don't care...there is no more style points...no BCS numbers...none of that garbage...just find a way to WIN THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!! I honestly don't think that PA is really going to help you. CNS defenses are very disciplined and they're just not going to bite on that, as a rule. Your primary running plays are the QB draw and the scramble, so there're be somebody staying back waiting for that. It really does take a credible running game to sell PA...

Dunno if it will be an easy win or not; honestly, I could see it going either way. How's that for the middle road? Can they beat us? Sure. Can we beat them? Ditto. :biggrin:

I will say this, though. If Texas is one-dimensional against us, I see them having trouble winning this game. They need to be able to run somehow, whether it be with their backs or with Colt. One-dimensional teams will not do well against us, or any other SEC teams for that matter. See Florida.

I know that blitzing comes with it possible problems (open holes in the D), but with our speed, that is usually negated to a degree. Not saying we won't get burned, but more often than not this year, we haven't been. It can be hard to burn a blitzing D when you're running for your life in the backfield.

I am concerned about CM running around back there, though.

This has been about beaten to death in the other thread, but, from what we've seen all year, expect heavy pressure from the beginning, with only a handful of blitzes per game...

If the second place team wins, 90% of the time it is because they are better, not because they were "trying to prove something." If the better team shows respect to the opponent, they will win. It is when better teams don't respect their opponent that they lose. The 92 Bama team didn't beat Miami because they were trying to prove something, but because they executed their positions in the same manner they had all year. Same goes for the 05 Texas team. Trying to prove something is not a way to win, in fact its more of a way to screw up than anything.

Questions like this (topic title) won't benefit Texas as much they have the opportunity to take our players' focus off the game. However, Saban won't let that happen, so I don't think any hype for the game will affect it.

Now, it's extremely possible that one of the four men with his hand down will be listed at linebacker on the roster, if it makes you feel better to say he's blitzing, feel free. When Alabama does blitz it will most often be 5 pass rushers, not a jail break.

No it doesn't make me feel better to say a LB with his hand in the dirt is blitzing, why would I even say that
Obviously its not going to be a jail break blitz, where you got the idea I thought that I don't know

So, in your nickel and dime packages, do you think you will get the kind of pressure OU and NU got on us by just rushing 4? That's my question
