Lame Kiffin to USC

Who thinks they will come after kirby smart?

I could be wrong but I really don't think so; I think they'll go with an experienced HC this time around. Not a knock on KS, he's an excellent coach; Its just that I think UT is in a precarious position, and they need someone who can hit the ground running.
Besides, if KS just waits long enough, UGA might come calling again after Richt leaves for the mission fields.

Re: Kiffen to USC...wow...

Yeah, but that wasn't the argument ;) Don't go trying to be a lawyer on me.

I'm sure if Leach were hired by UT, he could find an adequate DC. Leach's offense is far enough from the norm in the SEC that it could take a few years before it was completely solved.

But he'd need more wide-receivers to make the offense work. The UT roster would cancel out any short term schematic advantage that Leach would have. Even now, I doubt they're desperate enough to hire Leach.

Yes he was. It would be a strange turn of events if Kiffin settles in at USC, then the NZAA reveals that Kiffin was directly involved in creating the mess that USC is now in. Ole Kiffin could end up getting fired from his new gig before ever coaching his first game.
It is just hard to believe that USC would bring a guy back that was on the coaching staff when all their problems were happening. This could become a major headache for Kiffin. Either way, I'm not crying over it.

Maybe it's all part of a deal with the NZAA. You know, "hire Kiffin, and we'll take him down".

Man...talk about returning to the scene of the crime.

We all knew that Lane wasn't going to last long in the SEC, but my goodness......one year, Lane? Are you could do is one year? Lane out of the SEC has been my dream since December 1, 2008. Thank you for a last Christmas present, Lane. I thank you for taking Monte Kiffin out of Tennessee also.

I don't know if you've seen Texas Tech's roster lately, but most of their WR's couldn't cut it in the CFL. Leach's system is what works, not the players. Crabtree is the only WR anyone can name from the last 4-5 years that has come out of Tech. Adam James doesn't count ;)

My point is, CUM was successful at Utah (won his conference championship both years and won the the Fiesta (BCS) Bowl), Leach has won no conference championships nor made it to a BCS bowl in his 10 seasons.

Leach is fun to watch offensively but can't win the B12 due to lack of defense, why do you think he'll be successful in a more competitive conference?

You just can't compare pre-UF Meyer to Leach, imo.

Bama and Ole Miss both did pretty good jobs in the cotton bowls

Do you think that the UTn AD Hamilton was ready for this when he came to work today? Well I do guess that USC's AD had to get permission to talk to LK.

You know you always need to think ahead as an AD to be prepared for _ _ _ t happening. Was he prepared? I'll bet nothing surprises him anymore after today.

Yeah, I don't know which is worse. I still think Fran b/c he let people know after he boarded a plane (although I am not sure where Kiffin did his presser).

Yeah but Fran tanked the Auburn game. That is unforgivable.

I can almost see USC getting the death penalty now. While your being investigated, you give a land rover to a player; and then you hire the guy who won the bidding war for Bryce Brown. Why doesn't USC just fly Tommy the Trojan up to Indianapolis to sleep with Yeager's wife while they're at it.

Also, why didn't USC give a minority a chance at interviewing for the job.

I know the AD at USC is a minority but that's no excuse. I'll bet they didn't even look at a minority.

The NAACP needs to react to this! Where is the Rev. Jesse Jackson when you need him. Has USC ever had a minority head coach in football? I don't think so.

They better provide Mike Hamilton extra security tonight. I can't imagine he is very popular right now. His best chance for redemption is to take a suitcase full of money and try to get Gruden.

In turn, the happiest person in the conference has to be Mike Slive. Maybe UT can get off of "double secret probation" with him now.
