A quick message from a Dude from TN...

Welcome to the board.

I completely understand how most Vol fans were looking at Kiffin through orange tinted glasses. As a fanbase, you need to support your coach. He doesn't need the distractions of media, BOT members, university admins all vying for different factions from every direction. I was worried when we got rid of Shula that we were making a mistake and would go through the whole rebuilding process again. Glad I was wrong. I think the Saban hire rallied Bama like nothing has in a long time.

IMO, fanbases are just like people in general. You have some who are the nicest people you'd ever meet, some who are total [jerks...for purposes of a family rated board], and a lot that fall somewhere in between. This goes for all schools.

I have several friends who are avid Vol fans, and I live in Tennessee. For their sake, I'm happy when Tennessee does well. But when it comes to dealing with those poor sports who cannot win or lose with class, especially back during our time of troubles, it makes me want to see Tennessee lose every game they play. And I understand when you guys deal with jerk Bama fans it makes you hate us all the more.

It's amazing the passion that exists for this game. Here's to wishing it would get back to nothing but mutual respect.

We finally squashed Tennessee. Tennessee fans are so pathetically low right now that they come stumbling onto Alabama and Florida message boards with extremely pathetic ramblings looking for some sort of hand-out of sympathy.

Like the Mc'D's commercial says... da da DA da DAAAAAAAA I'm LOVIN' IT!

Not low right here. Ready for NSD, spring practice, and the 2010 season. I am pulling for my team through good and bad...if you don't then you're not a real fan. I admit I get a little down after a loss...but the next day I am ready for the next game.

I loved it when most of the Vol fans on the message boards (and in real life I know) were saying "Bama is scared of Kiffin! He is building a dynasty!", etc. What a joke. Not only did the guy do a very average job coaching, he also brought upon possible NCAA sanctions, embarrassed the school (when these rumors are brought to light), made UT look classless ("Meyer was cheating and I want to report it right here"), left for a better job while screwing the school, the fans, the players, the recruits, and the recruits parents. Go Vols, I hope you enjoyed singing rocky top all night long after that loss to Florida this year. The best hire UT ever made for Alabama/Florida/Georgia was Lane Kiffin. Thanks Mike Hamilton! "It's time!" And yes, it's true...I was one of the affairs with Layla :).

While you are booing Alabama, I'll be in Neyland with the Bama nation cheering for the Tide as we beat the Vols again.

With all that, welcome to Tidefans 'dude', I hope you enjoy your stay. Volfan1 is an excellent example of how to be a fan of rival fan and post on a opposing website. Follow his example and you'll be welcomed here.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Dude came with a good post. While the viles are still sitting at the top of my most dispised list (with the barn), I look forward to some sort of mutual respect to be returned between the two fan bases in the future. I'm not saying it's going to happen quickly, but I hope it does happen.

The third Saturday in October should be a celebration of Southern football, not a mud-slinging hate-fest. But with the evolution of the "modern" football fan, I'm not sure if that's possible. :frown:

:BigA: I think you vol fans finally got a coach that will show some class! He may be a diamond in the rough! He is definately a upgrade over Kiffen!

Haha. Trust me, I *KNOW* that feeling.
To rephrase mine:

If we only give him enough time to see if he is the right guy or not.

You are going to see people wanting to run out of town when he loses his first game...that is what is sad about it. Some are not going to give him a chance since he is not a big name.

Remember we had the lunatic fringe complaining about Saban after the 7-6 year. So I wouldn't be surprised if Dooley struggles at first if you have a vocal minority complaining, but hopefully cooler heads will prevail. The real question is will Hamilton be the guy making that decision going forward?

I don't see how anyone can hold him responsible for the upcoming season, unless he really makes a mess of it. Even the following year, depending on how many of LK's thugs are still around. Only takes one Eldorado Owens to mess up a locker room.

If we will only give him enough time to get things going.

VolFan1. This will probably not help much but I can tell you how a few UT leaders are reacting. Understand though that UT athletics are pretty much run by the President, the AD, and, to a degree, by a very few influential boosters.

My pretty much unassailable info is that several UT Trustees (most of those with any interest and influence whatever in athletic affairs):

Think the rush to hire a coach because of recruiting issues was probably ill advised.

Think now that it is done, a reasonably good choice was made.

Are satisfied to give the new staff 2 years to demonstrate a path to improvement has been clearly undertaken.

Believe Mike Hamilton as AD and Dooley as HC should be secure in their jobs for 2 years and probably more like 4.

If such thinking is relatively pervasive among UT leaders and boosters, your school should now have a stable program that will have the opportunity to rise or fall based on its progression.

Best wishes, but I still hope to beat UT by at least 50 for several years.:)

I appreciate your words but as someone who followed closely the mistreatment of Alabama caused by not only Fullmer but UT boosters and BOT members one who was a convicted criminal himself they fall on deaf ears. I find it almost humorous that UT is going through tough times all by their self without the help of the NCAA though that may change too. There are many UT fans I like yet there are too many who posted on message boards when we were getting hammered for me to forgive much. UT has a lot to ask forgiveness for, much to learn and many sins to pay for before I will like them as much as I used to. I used to have much respect for UT but that cup is empty. Enjoy the world we just left.

Ditto, ditto and by the way did I say DITTO.....:) Have you ever taken out the garbage thinking that all of that stinky garbage was gone forever. Then 2 days later you lift the top from the can and realize, by the stench that makes your nose burn and causes you to vomit in your mouth, that some of last weeks leftovers leaked to the bottom of the can..... Well 10-R-C, USC west took out your garbage but left a puddle of last weeks leftovers in the bottom of the can...I HOPE THE NCAA REMOVES THE LID AND GET'S A BIG OL' WIFF...:)

To be honest I HATE 10RC, always have always will. The only problem is that I'm a Dooley fan also, afterall Vince Dooley was born and raised in Mobile, AL.

What's happening at Tennessee and what happened at Alabama just show you that most programs are just one miscreant away from major heartache. In our case it was Logan Young and in yours it was Lane Kiffin. Kinda scary, huh?
