I really hope the coaching staff knew he was waffling before we did. The time to decommit was a month ago, not 2 days before signing day. I dont blame the kid for wanting to be closer to family, but how does this all of a sudden become an issue less than 48 hours before signing on the dotted line?

On emore question for those in the know. Since this is a dead period starting today through Thursday how was his family suppose to contact any staff about what he was doing tonite. I believe the one article said he would let the staffs know tonite.

Families are allowed to contact the coaches but the coaches aren't allowed to contact the recruits.

Well, it "seems" like the "decommittment" (that word shouldn't even exist imho) may be at least "semi-official"...

Tim Watts (of BOL) is reporting that Saban has been contacted (about KA going a "different direction") and that there may even be a "Big 10 school" coming into play...hmm...Clemson does appear out of it, for sure...

If so, something's weird here (and I'll withhold any personal comments, even though I believe some of them to be true based on data from the direct situation), believe it or not even more so than I originally thought, and I think we may be dodging a REALLY BIG camouflaged bullet...serious "play" going on here, for sure...

Yep, Penn St. is being mentioned. I'm not even sure he's even visited there. The situation begins to smell to high heaven...

some are speculating Penn St.

I am glad this drama is over.. we fans spent way too much time on a kid that was never going to honor his commitment to UA.

BTW, if he does go to Penn St., next year's game will be something else!!

:biga2:

Believe me the Bama staff is the first to know where they stand with Allen.

Some schools will give up two scholarships for one great player. I don't think Alabama should be one of them. If he's trying to get his brother into a better school on his back then he is more than welcome to piggyback ride his half-brother all the way to Clemson or Berkley. I'd much rather see Alabama sign two four-star players than get one 5-star and some cat who was the QB for Buffalo.

good point. I must say though, I sure did enjoy seeing Dareus this years. He was a package deal. I can see that patent spin move now;)

Well, seeing how his brother has never made it to campus...what's up with the other Dareus brother?

Hopefully he will go to Penn St. Then we can welcome him back in September ;) His potential is great but like Bobbie Massie and Lance Thompson, we moved on without them to have a lot of success. I'm usually the glass half empty kinda guy but in this situation I can't help but be confident. You just watched a team win a national title and then de-commit several weeks later? Someone tell CNS that we can't win anymore titles because it's a detriment to recruiting. I'm sure he'll take that into consideration.

Fundamentally different situations... CNS knew that his brother was not going to be able to qualify from the get go. Not the same no matter how anyone is trying to paint it.

In a vacuum, Keenan Allen is a 5-star.

Then mama gets into it with trying to help out the brother. Then there's the apparent package deal with the brother. Now the family wants to live wherever they play together.

If you think they'll exert that kind of influence during recruiting, then stop after signing day, I've got a slightly dirty bridge from an iffy part of New York that would look great in your back yard. Cheap.

This is smelling more and more like Eric Locke and Juicy.

Keenan Allen by himself is a great catch. No player is worth the package of brother and sundry hangers-on. If you want to come to Tuscaloosa to be part of The Process, here we are with open arms. If there are strings attached, best wishes in your efforts elsewhere.

well said 4q...not bashing any particular recruit, to be clear...just the more that the facts reveal, the more "truth" we know...
