Question: How many of you have friends/family who are Auburn fans

My BIL, whom I'd count as my best friend, not only has a BS from AU, he holds also an honorary doctorate. (He's a former director of Kennedy Space Flight Center.) He's also a sane fan who thinks the rivalry has become too heated...

Also in a mixed marriage, though I'm only going on four years. My sympathies go out to those of you in those of long standing. Things can get testy, particularly when the IB rolls around.

Me too (for 16 years).

We separate completely on THE day. He has AU season tickets, and I have Alabama season tickets. Whoever is the home team takes one of the kids, a parent, etc...

Everything is relatively back to normal the day after, but we can't spend that day together. I know, crazy. But it works.:)

This is pretty much how we work it too. We hardly cross paths on weekends during football season. He takes one kid, I take the other and we swap 'em out the next weekend road trip. It works for us, although I often lament the fact that we are not a "traditional" family that tailgates together on football weekends, except for the Iron Bowl.

In 2008 my mother was so upset with the 36 - 0 loss to Alabama she told my in laws I was raised a Barner. I sent my brother a tag like the one above. He removed the ugly AU tag on the front of her BMW. For three weeks she did not know this until she visited my Aunt Sue who ask her if she had lost her mind. Then the call came. "Scott, where is my tag"?. I responded "Hostage"! I told my 74 year old mother to call my in laws and explain why! Let me say that tag made it to the dump. She still loves me but told me when I go in life she has made arrangements that my brother and I would be buried in AU coffins.

My aunt, uncle and 2 cousins on my mother's side are Auburn fans. I don't know what happened to them b/c everyone else are Bama fans (well my grandmother could care less).

My best friend and his wife are big time Auburn fans. I mean tailgating in their RV and the whole orange and blue thing. All because some years back their daughter chose to go to Auburn before I realized it, and the next thing I knew I was helping him move her down there. It was the first and only time I've been on the campus. Smelled like cow poo but I was nice and didn't say anything. If I knew she was even thinking about Auburn I would have bribed her with $$$ to go to BAMA. Anyway they got into the whole barner family hype and the rest is history. We're still best friends and always will be but since BAMA's success the last two years there's been a chill in the air when I'm in my BAMA gear. :BigA:

Go figure this, I live in upstate NY and my neighbor across the street from me grew up in Birmingham and went to Auburn. Nice guy dispite the fact he wears a lot of blue and orange.

Just relatives cause there's nothing I can do about them; brother and both sisters. Two of which are traitors. No close friends cause that's the first question I ask and tend to steer clear of them. Was married to one, but thank God that didn't work out (no kids). After that, again, it was the first question I asked. My wonderful husband of 21 years took me to my first game. That's when I knew he was the ONE!! BTW - Several have been traitors over the years. I'm looking for them to switch sides any moment.

I grew up with a bunch of Auburn fans as friends, I guess that's what I get for growing up just over an hour (if that) away from Auburn (in Prattville), but I couldn't help that, that's where my dad got a job. On the other hand, I did go to the same high school as former Bama players Kevin Turner, Kyle Tatum, Bobby Greenwood, and Roman Harper, so that redeems me...
And current Bama player Nick Gentry. Also, incoming Freshman Safety Nick Perry. I know this because I'm a P'ville alum. Go lions

My late brother-in-law was a die-hard Auburn fan. He and I bantered back and forth and made jokes about our respective schools or teams, but never took it too seriously. He was always fun to be around.
Regardless of loyalties, he was a great guy and my best friend. He was a loving husband and father who never hurt a soul. I miss him terribly.
Rest in Peace, my friend.

My score:

Grew up in a barnie town. Just a few of us faithful Bama fans in that small town.

My oldest brother is dyed-in-the wool barn. Other five siblings are Bama.

Two best friends who are barnies, but don't smack (at least not to me).

My wife's family all bleed crimson. I love my in-laws.

My brother-in-law and his entire family are barners and not "the good kind".

I have one cousin who is but he is reasonable and we only see each other once every few years.

So sorry for your loss.

The Vice Principal here at School is a barner. Have a lifelong friend of the family who is a Barner. Other than that I don't associate with anyone who is a fan of the Cow college.

I have a good friend in Opelika, she's not typical, certainly not obnoxious. Met her on the WebMD CFIDS board and was healthy enough to drive down there from B'ham the day before thanksgiving the year before last. Also my Grand nephew goes to Auburn. full academic scholarship, and he's in the band.
