Despite some clear weaknesses on D, I'm in the U. of Auburn luck camp. They seem to always get the breaks in that game. Have for a long time. I, like Graytide, have seen this happen consistently. And this game will probably come down to who's the luckiest. In which case, advantage U. of Auburn.

I think Mullen is a better coach than Malzan at least his pedigree is better. With the game at MSU Auburn doesn't have that 15 point home field advantage at the jungle. I don't think this will be another 3-2 score game, last season it was 49.24 Auburn winning this time I think it may be 48-42 State winning.

I do not know, honestly; I saw no film of the MSU/Memphis game, but we will see how well the circus tent travels. I have my doubts; I think they take Newton's and Fanning's and Dyer's running out of the equation, and force the fig to beat them passing. Can he do it? MSU's d may not be that strong, I don't know.
I am on the fence on this one; the barn has owned the dogs for a number of years, and it may be time for that to change. I will pick Thursday.

I think State is the surprise of the West this year. Mullen has some players who can play his offense now and it seems to suit them. That freshman qb looks to be the real deal. Their defense has always been solid. I think they finish 2nd or 3rd in the west this year. Suddenly the "tougher" division doesn't look so tough.
LSU has inept coaching.
Ditto for Ole Miss.
Auburn's defense is porous.
Arkansas could live up to the hype.
State looked good.
Bama is Bama.

Times are good in T-Town.

Aubie gives up 200+ yard passing to Arky State....Miss St defense allows only 7 to Memphis. Both teams scored a bunch of points. With it being Thursday, in Starkville....I am liking Miss St. Let the implosion begin.

I second this logic above and think Mullen is a better football mind than his former boss!

AU wins this one.. It may be 60-55 before it is over but they will pull out the win.

I believe AU is a more physical team and will have more explosive plays than MSU. If MSU has a run game and they honestly try to control the ball and have long sustained drives in the first half, they could end up pulling out a win. If they come out of the gate throwing the ball all over, I think AU beats them at that game. I agree Mullen is a better overall coach than Malzahn but I that Malzahn is a more creative offensive coordinator. This will be an interesting game to watch.

Well.....I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole because both have a lot of unknowns, but if Arkansas State can pass for over 200 yards against Lee County A&M then I'd have to give a slight advantage to State.

Auburn's entire season depends on how well Cam Newton plays. If he plays great they might win as well.

Very difficult game to call.

I do think they'll light up the scoreboard and it should be a very fun game to watch.

Aubies D was awful, and Cams big stat line was a product of keeping him in for 3.5 quarters against anemic competition.
Hey, cut the Barn some slack, Ark St was still in the game half way through the 3rd quarter.

I think Aub. wins but only because I haven't bought into Miss St yet. I think they, and Ole Miss, will be lucky to have 3 SEC wins this year.

I honestly think MSU has a shot at knockin them off. Both teams will put points on the board, but i think MSU's DEFENSE is better right now. And that will be the difference.

This year is a toss-up. The barn has far more raw horsepower, but MSU actually has a steering wheel. I picked MSU, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

I tell you if Mullen was at an LSU, UT, or other program with real recruiting draw I'd be concerned about the guy.

Amen, brother. As it is, he will have a team capable of spoiling the big boys within another year or two. We would do well to mark Dan Mullen and watch him like a hawk.

Though losing to Mississippi State would be a very "Auburn" thing for them to do, I see Auburn winning this game.

And, to be quite honest, I am almost pulling for them. After Mullen guaranteed wins over Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss and a west division title, I'd love to see him fall flat on his face.
