Well, I picked the barn before the season, so I'll stick with them here.

I called it as a razor close game then, and I can still see that.

Of course, if you told me it would be a 14+ point win a week ago I would have bet on the barn being the winner. Right now, if it's a 14+ point win, I'd be betting on Mississippi State.

We'll see, but I do think it's possible that the barn isn't quite as bad as the Arky State game seemed to show. Call it a combination of first game jitters and overlooking the opponent or whatever, but I think the barn isn't going to be as bad as their first game might indicate.

I've still got them as coming in fourth in the West.

While I feel MSU has improved under Mullen; the only SEC West team they rank ahead of is Ole Miss. They have a good chance, but I have seen "lady luck on the Auburn sidelines all my life". Auburn in an offensive shootout 38-34.

I wish I could vote YES, but Auburn will win. Miss State does not have a chance because they will be yellow flagged to death with all those cow bells ringing :)

Really, I hope you guys who voted yes are right.

I can't bring myself to click a button next to the word "auburn". Even if I'm being asked to determine one's hair color.

I didn't vote, as I'm in a genuine quandry. I intended to prefer MSU as my in-state SEC choice when we moved to MS. Then I had repeated encounters with their fanbase in H'burg and in Starkville over the last 21+ years. Thus, in a BIG way, I am *NOT* in favor of MSU ever winning again.

But then, the opponent is Auburn, so...

:conf3:

exiled :D

I think AU wins by about 10. Newton won't have the game he did last week, but he'll still put together enough plays to get the W.

Well, I don't really care who wins, just so long as the barn loses.

But, the teams owe me big time. I was in Ttown watching Bama play on the night of their 'epic' 3-2 game. And I got to a friends apartment in time to see a good deal of it. They owe me! This one better be 53-52. If it isn't then I'll have Bama stomp a mudhole in both of them. (Don't tell them thats what is going to happen anyway. ;) )

The barner D was very underwhelming to me in their spring game and their showing yesterday did nothing to change my mind. Chiz, supposedly a defensive whiz has been a HC for 38 games now and his defenses are giving up an average of 31.4 points per game.

C'mon Tommy, he's only 10 games under .500 !

I'm not going to deride Chizik, I don't know enough about him and I'm sure ISU isn't the easiest plece to recruit to. I'm also sure AU had their reasons for choosing him in the hiring process. But ain't it a heckuva note... it took him three seasons + 1 game to win what Alabama did least year!

Roll Tide, and I'll pick State over Auburn.

edit...punctuation is your friend!!

Why is it such a stretch? Based on yesterday I believe there may be truth that Chizik's inability to lead a team or manage a game has been showing in practice and will cost AU games. How in the blue heck do you end a half on the 9 yard line without kicking a field goal? Les Miles couldn't even pull that off.

State handles most of AU's trick plays, makes a pick 6 off one of many poor Newton passes, and Mullen's discipline and leadership win the day. I tell you if Mullen was at an LSU, UT, or other program with real recruiting draw I'd be concerned about the guy.

If Gus Malzahn had never agreed to become the OC at A-barn, Cheez-whiz would definitely be in serious trouble right now (as would Jay Jacobs). He's not a good coach and if you pay close attention to their team, the signs are present all around it. If they ran a pro-style offense, they would get destroyed. Luckily, they have the benefit of running a scheme that's hard to defend (most of the time), and is also a tough task to prepare for (pre-snap motion, excessive trickery, and bizarre formations). When Malzahn leaves, the only thing holding A-barn together right now will leave along with him. Then, Cheez-whiz will be exposed for the 5-19 coach that he really is. And then, his offense will be just as bad as his defense, because Malzahn is one of a kind and no other OC can replicate the Malzahn scheme. Again, when Gus leaves, Cheez-whiz will be forced to bring in a Dave Radar or another Tony Franklin, and the end result will be disastrous...

With that being said, I just don't see MSU pulling this one off. I'll be cheering for them (rather hard), but I don't expect the final score to even be remotely close. Malzahn will out-coach Mullen, and it may be close in the first half, but the barn will pull away in the second. I just don't see the MSU D being capable of hanging with Newton and the Malzahn offense for the entire game. But next year (without Malzahn - assuming he takes a gig), we won't be having this discussion as Mullen will school Cheez-it in the cow pasture known as AU.

Malzaln will out- coached Mullen, really??...what makes you think this?

Mullen was the spearhead behind an explosive high scoring Florida Offense. its obvious that Florida's Offense hasn't been the same since he left. No doubt MSU doesn't have the studs that UF has, but it isn't like AU has a talented laden team either. if MSU loses this game is because they are lacking experience depth or miscues not because Mullen is a "deer looking at headlights" coach. in fact, the AU defense in the last 2 years makes me feel real good that MSU will win this game. the MSU players are in their 2nd year under his system, they are buying into his process. as someone mentioned earlier, if he was HC at LSU or Tennessee it would make very concern. Mullen will be force to reckon with in the SEC West much sooner than later.

everything else you said regarding Malzaln and his importance to AU's success as well as Cheestick is 100% correct!!
