Wow, I feel like we got a commitment when I read the headline "Crowell Has Tide on Top" on BOL. What we've all been saying seems to be coming true. He stated that UGA is struggling right now and that BAMA will be competing for championships for years to come... and that he has to take that into consideration. Also, Saban told him that if he had to choose 1 RB in the country, it would be Crowell. We should also state that Crowell didn't say anything like "BAMA is the bestest University ever and I don't want to go anywhere else!" He simply said that we are ahead right now. Last, what I thought was funny was that he said that it wasn't even that great of a game (due to the blowout).

Let us all hope for the continued demise of UGA... A long way to go, but fantastic nevertheless.

BOL has an article up now with Crowell saying after the visit that Alabama is on top.

Well that is some very good news. It certainly looks like the Tide is turning Crowell their way. No doubt it is going to be a long hard battle for his signature. He plans on announcing his choice on right after his HS fooball season. CNS has definitely made it clear to Crowell that he is Bama's top RB choice for this class.

Great news about IC.

I still think Georgia holds more of the cards here. The only way Mark Richt is not back next year is if HE decides to leave, if he decides he doesn't want to face the pressure of win or else in 2011.

If Richt wants to return, his most effective sales pitch becomes "Help me bring Georgia back." That could be a fairly persuasive line with kids, like IC, who have always loved Georgia.

By Dee Hart announcing his decision this Friday (prob to Mich), IC should know we are really wanting him. If Dee Hart happens to choose UA, then that pushes IC more toward UGA. IMO

I think Crowell is aware that no matter what Mark Richt is telling him Richt might not be there (a) when Crowell gets there or (b) when Crowell leaves there. If his decision for UGA has Richt has the major reason then we should be sitting much prettier now. If his decision is based on being a lifelong dawg fan then head coach might not matter. Then again, we lost a lot of lifelong Alabama fans in the past decade of probation and coaching carousel.

I don't know about that. Players want stability and Mark Richt and GA can't really offer that. I think Dee Hart and IC situation are independent of each other.

I'm in a toss-up about the situation. If we get Crowell, I kinda hope that Hart finds another place where he'll get more PT. On the other hand, if he feels he can come in and compete for a starting job and simply loves Bama, then the more the better. I just don't want to see a supreme talent like Hart end up the 3rd-4th string guy.

Crowell is the real deal and the #1 Rb in this class IMHO. I believe he has better agility than Brown and perhaps more top end speed. I really hope he chooses Bama, but I understand if is a lifelong fan of UGA. Speaking for myself, if Saban had recruited me to Mich St. and a feret was coaching at UA, I would've still Roll'ed with the Tide.:biggrin2:

Obviously I have no way of knowing exactly how things will go with Hart and Crowell, especially right now. However, I hope you are wrong on both of your points. I think Hart is going to choose Bama and Crowell will also.

Get ready to Roll! This is going to be one heck of a class.

just a note: I sat right next to Crowell at the game (only the student section fence between us), he seemed to be enjoying himself. Although there was a guy sitting next to him (I do not know who it was), that was rooting for the gators (i think he may not have been a player, looked a little older). He was really getting on my nerves...for about five minutes anyway ;) Then he got quiet.

I thought it was hilarious when I looked over and Crowell had pulled out a huge ziploc bag of chicken wings and started eating them - the recruits around him got a kick out of it.

Hope we get him!

Is this the person in question?

His HS teammate Gabe Wright came with him on the visit. Last I heard was that he is leaning to the barn. Bama does not have enough room for him. I certainly hope Crowell chooses the Tide over UGA.

She did give the low down already. She said that Crowell seemed to be enjoying himself, and he was eating chicken wings. What more do you want? :D

Crowell publically gave us all the low down after his visit to Alabama for the Florida game. He said that Alabama is ahead of Georgia. That is all I need to know right now. ;)

I think its pretty clear that we want two rb's in this class. Crowell and Hart are also different style backs, not to mention that Dee can play a number of positions. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. We may very well get both, we may even add Allen for good measure. I just don't see our staff turning any of them down. As for the numbers, Saban has ways of making that work, he always has.

No I was apparently making a bad attempt at humor. ;)

But I did say that the low down does not get much better than a public statement from Crowell that Bama is his leader over Georgia. That should not be confusing to you.

yeah I know these things go back and forth but IC would fit perfectly into the pro style scheme Saban runs. Hopefully he can see that and realize that he could be NFL ready in 3 years without getting beat to death like Spurrier is already doing to Lattimore.
