Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

I hope it isn't health-related. Even though he's a tough competitor (when he's on his game), I hate to see him go. If he leaves I wish him well.

And assuming he goes, Mullen sure seems like the logical replacement.
Or Charlie Strong. I work with a Gator fan, and he acknowledges the fact that Strong and Mullen seem to have been the main cause of Urban's success.

Outside of Dan Mullen, who would Florida target for the job?
I don't see Malzahn as a major candidate for that job. Kevin Sumerlin at Houston wouldn't be bad. Gary Patterson would be another good choice.

Steve Addazio wouldn't be bad either.

Just about any HC they want..Beside Bama, Ohio St, Texas, and select other few schools..Florida is as good as it gets for a HC..Lots of quality HC's have their agents on the phone now trying to be interviewed for the job..

Just had my co-worker, whose daughter works in the UF AD, walk in and say his daughter called him and told him it is confirmed, Meyer has resigned and will be announced at PC at 5:00.

Re: Postseason Coaching Changes Thread
Who wouldn't want to coach Tim Tebow? Either way...I think this is going to happen fairly quickly since Mr. Bowlen said that he didn't want an interim coach. Wouldn't shock me if he at least made a call to Gainesville.

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

I've got to believe UF would go after a bigger name than Mullen. I know he offers a lot of good things: familiarity, recruiting, knowing boosters, knowing the offense, etc...

But I've got to believe they'd go after a big name coach.

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

And who will DM get to run his offense if he bolts to Florida? DM still won't have a Tim Tebow to run the offense he likes to run.
He doesn't have the athletes at State he would have at Florida. How did that work out for him? A New Year's day bowl. He would do well at Florida.

Isn't Chizik a Florida grad? You would think they would be beating down his door to hire him, after all he just won some coach of the year award and is headed to the NC game. (sarcasm).
