Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

i understand mullen and mahlzahn are being looked at who do you guys believe will get it?
Have you read the thread? It's pretty obvious who people believe will be the replacement. Just take a read instead of just asking questions.

Some people never cease to amaze- there are AU fans calling into Fitz, FB and whatever the Memphis show is- actually complaining that Chizik's name isn't on or near the top of the list of names.

Wouldn't think so, however should Mullen leave MSU, Malzahn would be a prime candidate.

It is way to early and I could be wrong but my gut feeling is that Mullen will not return to UF. I have nothing to base that on but a hunch but that is my opinion right now.

I guess they're scared of their own success.

Fair enough, but my friend said on Sunday that Meyer would be resigning (again) and Mullen had had communication with UF about stepping in. Either way he (Mullen) is going to come out smelling like a rose, either by the UF HC job, or a huge salary/contract bump at MSU since he's the lowest paid active coach in the SEC right now.

Malzahn will not be a serious candidate. No way UF hires anyone's assistant and especially one that was coaching Springdale HS five years ago. They will hire a sitting head coach, bank on it. Probably Mullen.

EDIT: If I were Jeremy Foley, I'd back a Brinks truck up to Chip Kelly's door.

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

FWIW, the Florida boards are speculating that this resignation is taking place in part because Foley wanted staff changes that Meyer wouldn't agree to.

In terms of replacements, I think Dan Mullen is an obvious candidate although his HC experience is limited. I would expect Bob Stoops and Bob Petrino to be on the radar, as well.

I think if/when the barn blows Oregon's doors off, we will see that Chip Kelly only looks good because of his competition. Remember, Masoli was a world-beater at Oregon. We've all seen how he's performed in the SEC...

:eek::eek:

Not only would that be potentially frightening, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE no distractions for Oregon until they beat Auburn!!!!!!!!!

Re: Multiple sources: Urban Meyer will step down again

And in a related story, Houston Nutt has told Ole Miss that Florida has inquired about the buyout package Nutt would be due if he "reluctantly" took the Florida job. Pete Boone, under shotgun duress from a few locals, told Nutt to not let the door hit him on the way out. He also told Nutt to take the playbook because it didn't work anyway.

(Just kidding)

I wouldn't use Masoli as the best example. He plays for Ole Miss. Put him with the talent at Florida and you have a good team.

I was referring to my own post being a bit of a rant, not yours...mainly because of the last sentence of my post...
I hope that didn't sound accusatory, me asking what rant off meant- I didn't mean for it to if it did.

Nobody, except a Barner actually thinks Cheeze could coach his way out of a wet paper bag without GM (does 5-19 sound familiar?)!!!

Bob Petrino might be scary good at Florida!

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

That would be like asking if Phil Fulmer would ever be the coach at Alabama. What do you think?
I was looking for the sarcastic smiley to place after my post but couldn't find it...

Yeah, not the best example, but even at Oregon he was doing a LOT of his damage strictly on his own (mainly with his legs). I'm just not convinced that the teams in the PAC-10 are that good...
