Per Al.com, Chizik states "to the best of my knowledge, there are possibilities of contact".

Malzaln was scheduled to talk to the media after practice, but elected not to.

let the auburn nation begin their meltdown!:biggrin::biggrin:

if malzaln leaves after his big raise at the barn, could it be a tell tale sign of things to come at aub?

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn coach Gene Chizik said Maryland might have reached out to Tigers offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn about its vacant head coaching job.

"I have not talked to anybody personally, but there are possibilities of contact," Chizik told reporters Tuesday. He said he couldn't offer further details "because I don't have any."

Maryland fired coach Ralph Friedgen last week and there has been speculation that former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach would be the prime candidate to replace him.

Gus Malzahn is a spatial genius. He creates both space and time. When you put a QB/RB/WR in the same space, at the same time, things are bound to happen.

Just out of curiosity, has GM even signed his new contract extension with AU? I bet that he hasn't even though I don't really think it matters that much.

I don't necessary think it will tell us anything, but the most widely speculated reason why Gus didn't jump ship to Vandy was that Vandy was not appeapling enough for Gus.

if Maryland is willing to pay more than the $1.4 than auburn, I believe Gus goes.

Is Gus trying to leave the sinking ship? It's the right time for him to go. If he doesn't put distance between himself and Auburn, his stock will go down considerably when the scandal breaks open.
IMHO: Gus is not likely a 'Principal' in the PFP, but I'll bet he has guilty knowledge.
Even if Gus escapes Auburn, the stain/stink of the scandal may damage his future coaching opportunities.

Maryland seems to have really gotten a good deal with the firing of the Fridge. Both Malzahn and Leach are excellent options. I really like CML, and want to see him get a job soon somewhere.
