SIAP, Shannon Brown and his wife speak to WAFF about their daughter who perished in Tuscaloosa. Truly sad and I hope I never have to experience the loss of my daughter.

In case this might help anyone:

O loving Creator, bring healing and hope to those who, at this time, grieve, suffer pain, or who have been affected by the tornadoes in the southern United States. We remember those who have died and we pray for those who mourn for them. May we all be aware of Your compassion, O God, which calms our troubled hearts and shelters our anxious souls. May we pray with humility with our troubled and struggling brothers and sisters on earth. May we dare to hope that through the generosity of the privileged, the destitute might glimpse hope, warmth and life again. Through our Savior Christ who lives with us, comforts us and soothes us. Amen.

I must say that is something I never thought I would see in my life. Oddly enough its the bitterness of our rivalry makes me even proudest to see this. I think we should adopt a new state logo: The state of Alabama, our rivalries and our compassion is second to none.

I still can't do it. Don't think bad of me but just as Tennessee, the Boogs if they had their way would totally shut Alabama down if given the chance.

Tell that to the "boogs" that are in Tuscaloosa currently on search and recovery, working with EMT crews, working as volunteers to clear debris, handing out food and water and whatever you do please be sure to tell the AU students and faculty that have arranged donation drives to gather items to deliver to Tuscaloosa.

Just checking in. Haven't had internet since the storm, but my power is back on. The only thing I think I've used it for is laundry and showers. I've been out volunteering and moving trees. My brother and his girlfriend were on opposite sides of the debris, and he had to walk through the worst of the forest lake area to get to her apartment... they both thought the other was dead. I was in ten Hoor, which, by the way, is probably the BEST place to be. Zero windows in the basement. I was so very tempted to go back to my apartment, which is just shy of the Alberta area. Very blessed, very thankful. Thank you, Tidefans family, for keeping us all in your prayers.

After what I've seen in the past few days, I never want to leave this city. (I'm on the waiting list for UA's school of law and by george, I need to get admitted.)

Oh. Yeah. I guess I've graduated?!

Glad to hear you are ok. Is there anything you and your friends need?

Thanks for checking in, Sara. Glad you and your brother are OK. Do your best to help your neighbors and fellow students. From tragedy like this, you'll bear witness to some of the best humanity has to offer. Take it all in, add to it, and God bless.

As far as I know, my friends and I are all set. Many students that are without power have been staying with those who do. Food and other resources are still being pumped into the forest lake/15th area, and they are very well taken care of. I keep hearing on the radio about other neighborhoods that still need help, so hopefully they are getting the same attention!

The possibility of rain is definitely worrying some and tarps are in high demand. Pray the rain is minimal!

After all this, good luck on law school, from a member of the UA Law class of 1980. And, whether you are going to law school or not, come back in August and pick up your degree. You will never ever forget that day now. You and the other members of the Class of '11 have earned those degrees!

Sara, it is great news to hear you are doing well. You are a fantastic spokesperson for the BAMA spirit (by the way, "We Won the West in Death Valley" is a great video).

I know it has been mentioned previously, but each of us can donate $10 to the American Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Heck, I already send a monthly direct deposit donation to the Red Cross (and USO) but I donated a few more times just to feel good. It worked.

To those of you who formerly went to the Central Church of Christ when you were students at UA or who had family that went there, please know that the elders have dedicated to rebuild the church building and our members are even in the midst of our own tragedy serving food and water to those working to help the victims in our area and providing clothes and other needs for the victims themselves. If you want to assist in the rebuilding effort for Central, you can contribute to the Central building fund online by going to EverRibbon | Donate to Central Church of Christ Tornado Relief or you can send contributions to Central Church of Christ, 304 Hargrove Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401.

God Bless Tuscaloosa and all of those hurting throughout Alabama and the Southeast. Thank you to all of you who are praying for us in Tuscaloosa and to those of you who have come to assist or who will come in the near future, God Bless you for your service in this most difficult time in our city's 200-year history.
