If it gives everyone a warm feeling, there wasn't much on Sooner sites yesterday announcing his decision but it was plastered all over Bama sites. TIFWIW.

I feel pretty confident about Kiel for the time being. I believe if he definitively had to chose today that he would pick 'Bama. Of course, he's still a week or two away from a decision, and that can be an eternity in the eyes of a 17-year old kid. If he shows up in Norman this week on a UV, it'll be the complete opposite prediction.

Again, though, OU is going to be tough to beat. They play in a pass-happy conference and put QB's in a scheme to put up huge numbers throwing the ball 40-50 times per game. I'm a big proponent of what we do offensively, but that can be difficult to overcome, especially when Sam Bradford is lighting up the NFL.

We'll see what happens. I'll say this much: How weird is it to have 'Bama v. OU battling it out for one of the top passers in the nation coming out of Indiana? Never thought I'd live to see this day from a couple of smashmouth programs built on three yards and a cloud of dust.

I hope he commits to us but I would think this would lower our chances to land Winston tremendously. I prefer Kiel over Winston so no issue if this unfolds this way. Many on this board feel we will sign two QB's in this class, so if Kiel does commit I would think Gardner and Lambert would be the second QB in this class since they are not as highly rated as some of the other QB's we have targeted and I don't see us signing two elite QB's in this class.

Yep it appears to be true. Seems like OU knows what his intentions were and they want to try and change his mind.
I know in talking to OU friends today that they really feel that we have the momentum. If the style of O that he plays in is really not the determining factor, like he says in his interview that he did with rivals today, looks like to me it will boil down to what campus and atmosphere where he feels the most comfortable will ultimately win out. On that front, I like our chances.

Where are you hearing that he's going to make another trip to Norman? He seemed to indicate that his focus the next couple of weeks was going to be on his current team and some 7 on 7 tournaments.

I haven't heard the exact day yet and I knew that he had his 7 on 7 stuff going on so right now I'm not sure anyone knows exactly what the exact plan is.

That was never a hard date. His coach actually was the one who said it, Gunner never said he would announce on the 12th but that he "may." As of now we can expect it to be as early as Sunday but with a possible impending visit to OU and supposedly another scheduled visit to UA within 2 weeks anything can happen.

Kiel has returned from his visit to OU. And as far as I know, he did not commit. Gotta be good for Bama.
Even though Kiel and his family are not talking, there are reports that Bama is in good shape after the OU visit. Some are even saying that Bama leads. Hopefully that is the case.

As far as an upcoming commitment announcement that is just speculation or rumor at this point. Kiel and/or his family are not talking publically and there has been no date set.

He keeps his lips sealed doesn't he? I thought I heard/read where he was only going to call the coach to commit instead of having a press conference or something. I'm correct in thinking that CS?

Yes, that is going around as a possibility but again there has been nothing from Kiel or the family about an announcement or timeline for a commitment, at least publically.

I hope this is the case Surf and we get his committment. I know we and other schools like to get early commits from QB's to help recruit others. It would be great to get Kiel's soon and he can start with DGB and other big targets.

Hi Tide fans,

I have lurked around this board before, but since we are competing for 2 of the top recruits in the country I thought I would join the discussion. Let me start by first saying there is no other program in CFB that I have the same respect for like I do for Alabama. The fans are first class fans, and I have always had good experiences with you guys at games, tailgates ect. There has just always been a mutual respect between OU fans and Bama fans in all my encounters, some of my closest friends are alumni from Alabama, and I thank you guys for whipping Texas' a** a few years back.

Anyways, I thought I would kind of add Kiel and DGB news to this board. Before Durron Neal got on campus, there wasn't much talk about him on OU boards, and there had been a lot of rumors flying around that he wanted to play with DGB and Kiel. His commitment was totally shocking and Missouri fans are already saying that he isn't going to stay committed until NSD and that they think he will waiver. In the interview yesterday with OU Rivals, I have honestly never seen a recruit so excited about his commitment, he had never been here and he just loved it and the winning culture over the mediocrity at Missouri. In the interview he said that him and DGB have discussed playing together and that they would create openings for each other. He said he talks to Kiel on occasion, but didn't see him very much on their visits because they were getting toured by their position coaches but Neal saw Kiel 10 minutes before he left campus. When Neal was asked about Kiel he said "He really didn’t talk a lot, he was with coach (Josh) Heupel and I was with coach (Jay) Norvell. It was like a 10 minute thing, they had us both in the room and then they got out. When I left I asked what he was going to do and he gave me a little wink and I don’t know if that meant you’ll see or if we were going to play together". Take it for what it's worth, I honestly have no idea which way DGB or Kiel is leaning since they play everything so close to vest.

Edit: I forgot to add look for DGB to probably be making a commitment towards the end of summer/beginning of the season and not go to NSD like a lot of people think it will.

Welcome to Tide Fans. Thanks for joining up and entering the discussion. Right back at you as far as respecting your team and fans. I have always pulled for OU, not only do they both have great winning traditions but also they have the crimson colors in common.

It certainly looks like it will come down to either Bama or OU for Kiel. I have heard that Bama is in good shape for him even after the OU visit and I have also heard others say that OU is out in front. Unfortunately that is all the info that there is to go on right now, hearsay.

Bama is also in the running along with OU and Missouri for DGB. If either Bama or OU get both Kiel and DGB lookout. That will be an unbelievably talented pass and catch duo for years to come. If OU gets those two to go along with Neal, man that would be great for y'all and make us Tide fans very sad indeed. lol

Thanks for the kind words. I've been hearing ONLY OU and Bama for both Kiel and DGB. Even though Missouri is considered to be in the top 3 for both DGB it is really unlikely that either one of them ends up there. In my opinion, whoever get's Kiel is also going to get DGB. How is the depth chart UA looking? If he comes to OU, it could be a few years before he sees the field because we already 4 QB's on campus, and if OU lands Kiel and Landry returns for his senior year there is going to be 5 scholarship QB's.
