Welcome to Tide Fans. Thanks for joining up and entering the discussion. Right back at you as far as respecting your team and fans. I have always pulled for OU, not only do they both have great winning traditions but also they have the crimson colors in common.

It certainly looks like it will come down to either Bama or OU for Kiel. I have heard that Bama is in good shape for him even after the OU visit and I have also heard others say that OU is out in front. Unfortunately that is all the info that there is to go on right now, hearsay.

Bama is also in the running along with OU and Missouri for DGB. If either Bama or OU get both Kiel and DGB lookout. That will be an unbelievably talented pass and catch duo for years to come. If OU gets those two to go along with Neal, man that would be great for y'all and make us Tide fans very sad indeed. lol

Roll Tide and Boomer Sooner!
CS, would Gunner and DGB play together at Bama? DGB would most likely play immediately, while Gunner would redshirt. That means DGB would have 3 years with AJ and 4 years with Phillip if both stay. Or is Gunner so good he'll beat either out?

If they both decide to sign with Bama of course they would play together. I will let the specific details of who, where, and when sort itself out, without my speculation. Both McCarron and Sims have already redshirted. ;)

Thanks for the kind words. I've been hearing ONLY OU and Bama for both Kiel and DGB. Even though Missouri is considered to be in the top 3 for both DGB it is really unlikely that either one of them ends up there. In my opinion, whoever get's Kiel is also going to get DGB. How is the depth chart UA looking? If he comes to OU, it could be a few years before he sees the field because we already 4 QB's on campus, and if OU lands Kiel and Landry returns for his senior year there is going to be 5 scholarship QB's.
I'm obviously not CS, but currently, I believe we have 3 QBs on scholarship. I have listed their each of their ratings coming out of HS.
AJ McCarron RS SO ****
Phillip Sims RS FR (4 or 5 stars depending on which site you look at)
Phillip Ely FR ***

McCarron and Sims are battling it out for the starting role this year. There is talk that one of them could transfer if they were to lose the job.

EDIT: Welcome to the board btw! I have great respect for Okahoma as do most other Bama fans. It's always great to get fans of other schools on here!

With Julio Jones gone to the NFL it is thought that DGB could step right in and compete for Jones' spot at WR.

As far as the Tide's QB depth goes, there are only three QBs on scholarship right now, including the incoming class. Out of those three, two of them are in hot competition for the starting job, A.J. McCarron and Phillip Sims. Behind them is an incoming true freshman QB Phillip Ely. He will most likely be the back-up to the back-up pending some unforeseen circumstances. There are one or two athletes that played QB in high school that could be called on to play wild cat QB or QB in any emergency situations.

I forgot Blake Simms. He did play QB at A-day, and CNS says that's his position for now. I don't know how I forgot him.

Blake Sims is not a scholarship QB. The two athlete/wide receivers I was referring to are Blake Sims and Marquis Maze. They both will most likely play some situational wildcat this season.

he is technically at QB, and on scholarship. picking nits here.
You can pick all the nits you want to. Blake Sims' official Roll Tide profile lists him as an athlete, not QB. He is at QB for now (Spring ball), which means, he was given a shot to learn the offense but he will be playing slot WR and probably some spot wildcat QB this season. That does not make him a scholarship QB. I am pretty sure his Bama career will be right along the Marquis Maze path. Maze played some wildcat last year and he is not a scholarship QB. Blake Sims is talented at QB but I am pretty sure he is not going to beat out McCarron and/or Sims for any significant QB playing time. If Bama is fortunate enough to sign Gunner Kiel he will be the scholarship QB next in line and not an athlete. ;)

Hi Tide fans,

I have lurked around this board before, but since we are competing for 2 of the top recruits in the country I thought I would join the discussion. Let me start by first saying there is no other program in CFB that I have the same respect for like I do for Alabama. The fans are first class fans, and I have always had good experiences with you guys at games, tailgates ect. There has just always been a mutual respect between OU fans and Bama fans in all my encounters, some of my closest friends are alumni from Alabama, and I thank you guys for whipping Texas' a** a few years back.

Anyways, I thought I would kind of add Kiel and DGB news to this board. Before Durron Neal got on campus, there wasn't much talk about him on OU boards, and there had been a lot of rumors flying around that he wanted to play with DGB and Kiel. His commitment was totally shocking and Missouri fans are already saying that he isn't going to stay committed until NSD and that they think he will waiver. In the interview yesterday with OU Rivals, I have honestly never seen a recruit so excited about his commitment, he had never been here and he just loved it and the winning culture over the mediocrity at Missouri. In the interview he said that him and DGB have discussed playing together and that they would create openings for each other. He said he talks to Kiel on occasion, but didn't see him very much on their visits because they were getting toured by their position coaches but Neal saw Kiel 10 minutes before he left campus. When Neal was asked about Kiel he said "He really didn’t talk a lot, he was with coach (Josh) Heupel and I was with coach (Jay) Norvell. It was like a 10 minute thing, they had us both in the room and then they got out. When I left I asked what he was going to do and he gave me a little wink and I don’t know if that meant you’ll see or if we were going to play together". Take it for what it's worth, I honestly have no idea which way DGB or Kiel is leaning since they play everything so close to vest.

Edit: I forgot to add look for DGB to probably be making a commitment towards the end of summer/beginning of the season and not go to NSD like a lot of people think it will.
I'll say this if Keil and DBG commit to us and we can get neal on a visit watch out. If Neal visits bama like he wanted to i think he would give BAMA a lot of thought. So what im saying is this likely not over.

I think Durron Neal's ship has sailed. I don't see him backing out of his OU committment, regardless of what Kiel or DGB decide. JMO...

Have you heard anything on where we stand with Kiel after his OU visit? Is he still going to decide this Sunday?
Nothing really new been working a lot lately and i hope so. The information i got is the visit to OU was to stall is commitment (And they did a good job of that)and its telling that gardner who would commit on the spot was told to hold off. But alot of smoke around this and ill be glad when he commits somewhere lol

I agree, Jam, but hasn't that been the problem with this kid all along?? It baffles me that he supposedly grew up a Bama fan yet we can't get him to a camp or to even visit campus. I still can't figure that one out...
The season hasn't even started and I would expect him to take his alloted visits this fall somewhere. Who really knows what will happen?;)

If you read the he things he said about OU after he made his commitment I thnk you would feel differently. Like I said earlier, I have never seen a player more excited about his commitment than Neal.

The same could be said about Ricardo Louis when he commiting to AU and he stated that not only was he 100% to them but that he would not take any other visits, but after the dust settles a week later now he is still going to visit schools. The fact is until they sign on NSD nothing is a sure thing and if you have followed recruiting long enough you know that. Not saying that Neal will not end up at OU but I would wager OU fans may get a little worried between now and NSD if he does take visits.

I have been following recruiting for quite some time. I also know that you can't compare recruits from the prior years to the current class because every kid is different and just because one kid did one thing a certain way doesn't mean another kid will do the same thing. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the recruitment of Jeremey Maclin, but he was an OU commit and switched to Mizzou (long story) and Missouri fans are already comparing their recruitment in hope that he too will switch. In his interview that was specifically brought up and I am as confident that we will keep him as any recruit we've signed, but hell he could have a complete 180 and change before NSD you just never know.

I keep reading that Durron grew up a Bama fan, but you can't put too much stock into those things. For example, Miles Shuler of last years class said if he got an OU offer he would commit as he grew up a die-hard OU fan and he ended up going to Rutgers. Adrian Peterson grew up a Texas fan, and ended up at OU. Jameis Winston apparently grew up an OU fan too and we offered, but I doubt we even get a visit.

Not to bash you, but Neal was thrilled to get an offer from Bama. He said he grew up an Alabama fan. He hasn't gotten a firm offer yet because he hasn't visited.
