LB Kwon Alexander Updates

For now he looks to be a pretty heavy 'Bama lean, but it's still very early and a lot can change. Auburn is the main concern given they are also in-state and can offer early playing time, but we seem to be fending them off pretty well for now, and this figures to be the relative height of the storm in that regard, so the lead is encouraging.

Anything can happen, obviously, but if we can maintain this momentum with Kwon through the end of summer, we're probably going to get him. Auburn will wane a bit with some struggles in 2011, so if we can just hold on to the lead through early October then that might solidify things for good. If Auburn can't get it done with him after a 14-0 national championship season, it's hard to see them doing it after going, say, 8-5 with a Peach Bowl trip.

I wholeheartedly concur. I am just backing up what BET said. The fact that Alexander's teammate OG Michael Flint decommitted (It looks like for good) from the barn will only help Bama's efforts to land Alexander. I don't believe Bama is going to go after Flint but that remains to be seen.

Flint was always my biggest concern with Alexander, and with him now headed out-of-state, that's moot. With him no longer being a pro-Barn voice in Alexander's ear literally 24/7/365, I think that destroys the Barn's best chance of landing him.

That said, the usual caveats about recruiting always apply, and they apply especially to heavily-recruited prospects. I think 'Bama gets Kwon in the end, but I've seen crazier things happen.

I agree, that was why I thought I would add that to your accessment. The Alexander recruitment is going to be a long, hard row to hoe. ;) I am sure a lot of differnet schools including the barns are going to be literally throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him between now and NSD to try and land him. I forget the exact date he said he is going to announce, it was either at the All-star game or on NSD. In any event buckle up, it will be a bumpy ride. I just hope it is nothing as sordid as the Brent Calloway recruitment.

BET, what are our chances with Elston?

CS, are we recruiting him as a corner or safety?

Well that is the rub. Bama is recruiting him as a CB and he wants to play offense in college. He is a lifelong Clemson fan and the latest from him is that his top three are Clemson, the barn, and LSU. I think if he doesn't go to Clemson, it will be the barn.

I don't see us getting Elston. I don't think we are really recruiting him at the moment, and the interest on our end seemingly isn't there. He actually grew up an Auburn fan in an Auburn family, so I think the Barn could get him if they want him, but they too aren't showing a great deal of interest at the moment. We could get him if we wanted him, in a sense, but of course if we went after him then by default the Barn would as well, and in that case he might end up at Auburn because again there is apparently his childhood allegiance.

For now, though, the point is that neither 'Bama or Auburn are showing any considerable interest in him. Clemson looks like the smart money right now, but I think that's mainly because it's the most high-profile school recruiting him. If 'Bama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, et. al. step things up, I bet he drops Clemson.

And as for the corner / safety question, that's somewhat inapposite because I don't think we're really recruiting him at all. If I had to say I imagine we're looking at him as a corner, but again I think that question in general isn't very fitting.

I am guessing he wants to play WR? Is that what Clemson is recruiting him as?

Where was Kwon Alexander's unofficial visit to this weekend?

Does anyone know where Kwon spent his unofficial, and maybe a little insight on where we stand with him right now.

'Bama.

And everything looks good for us with Kwon.

Re: Where was Kwon Alexander's unofficial visit to this weekend?

He has insane speed for a LB. Hope Bama lands him.

Re: Where was Kwon Alexander's unofficial visit to this weekend?

Kwon named a top six today - Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Miami and Oregon

Re: Where was Kwon Alexander's unofficial visit to this weekend?

I'm hoping Ragland is in Kwon's ear more than Winston.

Agree. I know we are in good shape with Kwon, but it bears mentioning that whenever a prospect list auburn among his top favorites, I become weary of a certain towel waving person who pretends to be a coach...:cool2:
