****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. GSU****

Being selfish (after all, my name is Self), I'd love to see him stay. For his own good, he needs to go. He's not superhuman. One chop at his knee and his career could be over. He's given us more than enough...

No argument here...he has provided his teammates and the Bama faithful with something we haven't had much of in a long time (MI notwithstanding). He doesn't owe anything to anyone but his family.

Let me correct that (since he got the record for most rushing td's in a year)...ever.

I was holding my breath waiting to get lambasted by the national folks....but the first thing out of Brando's mouth when they ran our highlights was (rightfully) that GaSouthern was a QUALITY FCS opponent. So maybe this won't be as bad as I thought.

I heard the same thing. I had similar thoughts to you.

There aren't many who have had the supporting cast TR has had, either. He had MI last year. If Lacy stays, and DH gets healthy, I don't think TR gets worn out. There are enough totes to go around with those three.
But it's his decision, and he will make the one that's right for him and his family.

I wouldn't get my hope ups. It's not about supporting casts, it's about one wrong cut and a leg cast. You know that!

Teams should be allowed to pay for insurance against this.
Actually, unless the NCAA has changed the rules again, a player can take out a loan to pay the premium for a one million dollar policy. The only problem is that that is a very small token, compared to his potential earnings, particularly including endorsements, etc...

In another interview, I heard Trent say he was staying for his senior year to graduate. I was surprised. However, I really think he needs to go for his own good, both financially and physically. I will be surprised if he does stay.

Kudos to a hard fought game by Georgia State...best of luck to them the rest of the way in the playoffs. Our guys played much better in the 2nd half with the exception of the kickoff return for a TD. Hopefully we can get healthy, regroup, refocus, and steamroll the barn next week. Roll Tide Roll!!

As exciting as it would be for him to stay, I think it's best for Trent to go ahead and leave. His stock is probably as high as it will ever be, and I'd hate to see him come back and struggle next year after losing some of our O-LINE.

RBs do not have long careers especially a guy like Trent who is constantly taking the hit to people and fighting for extra yardage.

I am pretty sure that Alexander had a 1 mil policy.

I love seeing these players go, but I just wonder what a Saban team would look like with handful of senior blue chips on the field.

It has its good and bads as far as the team goes. Definitely helps recruiting, but next year is going to hurt after losing so much talent. It may take a fourth year to to master his defense for many of these players.

You have to admire Trent for wanting to get his degree. Still, with millions looking him in the eye, it will be very difficult to turn down.

Back to today's game, we had our hands full with that option game. Glad we got in the 40's against them. Looking ahead, I am very concerned about the number of injuries we are experiencing. Just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to ankles, knees, shoulders, and toes. These team injuries are mounting up and at a time when we are poised for the most critical games of the season. Gotta get some guys healthy in a hurry.

I'll get flamed for this, but I'll say it anyway...
As hard as it is for most of you to understand or rationalize, there are some things that are more important to some people than money. Is that where this talk of TR staying is coming from? I don't know, but if he does stay, we all know it won't be for the money.
It's his decision, and he will make the right one for TR snd family, and all I can say is thanks for my being able to watch one of Bama's all-time greats.

Hmm... I don't think I, or the others, are lacking in understanding at all. All I was saying, again, is that it would be best for his financial future. He has two small children and their mother to take care of. In fact, a case could be made that it would be selfish of him to stay, no matter how much it might please us fans. He's not a Manning from a wealthy family...

Anyone wants to know why coach Saban liked to overshoot the classes a bit wait until draft day when we lose multiple Juniors.

If you listen to this guy, we just lost our chance at the NC: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rn-tides-hopes-for-national-title-are-reeling.

The following is an excerpt from his article: "Alabama may not have controlled their own destiny, but Georgia Southern had a signature game--despite losing--and have very likely put Alabama back out of the national championship."

As a fan, I dismiss what he is saying. Thoughts?
Bleacherreport is a fan blog and nothing more. I never read it. Before our recent upgrade, we had an automatic warning about lack of credibility of that site with every link to it...

Just consider the source; little more than rumor mill.

If you believe anything you read on that trash site you might want to change sites. Just an idea. Like Earle said, I could start up my own stories on there and make it look like I'm credible.
