Re: The Opening

few thing foster said that he's 100% bama, also done for the week. He also said that alabama is looking @ tray mathews!!!!! Altee ran a 4.42 40, 3.97 shuttle, jumps 36.9, and a powerball throw of 45 feet. Was quoted as saying he’d like to play in the same backfield with Henry. O.J also 100% to bam a and actively recruiting for us. lastly, Ray rice and other nfl players really like altee and a lot of people are saying he reminds them of trent. RTR guys. And the times are laser timed but i do agree that it seems absurd the times some of these guys are running but we will all find out @ the nil combine in 3 to 5 years.

That is good to hear about Foster and us looking at Mathews. Tenpenny was very impressive. I liked how he stayed low and exploded in both his 40 yard and shuttle. We are getting a star. Henry is beyond words. Someone that big who can run and jump like he does is amazing. I have not seen enough video to say who you would compare him to but just based on what I saw yesterday and his size and weight he is in the Marcus Dupree mold.

Re: The Opening

Dupree is a good example. With non prototypical RB size he is destroying HS competition. He is always the best athlete on the field. Little will change, even at Bama. He will be faster than all 11 on defense against most teams (there are maybe 4-5 starting CBs over all 14 SEC teams who will run under a 4.45. He will also be bigger than all the back 7. I don't think anyone in the SEC has a LB breaking 240 now that Hightower is gone.

Usually you can be the biggest OR the fastest, not both.

Awesome!

Thanks, JB1! :cool2:

Re: The Opening

Everything I've been reading about Demarcus Walker at The Opening is very positive and he's dominating the competition. I hope UA lands him

Re: The Opening

The times are legit. They did this in 20 sites and most of the on-site 40 winners had about a 4.51. All those 4.5 guys are the speedsters who have 4.4 listed on their scout profile. A small group of players, literally about 30 out of thousands ran under a 4.5.

If you watched the ESPNU show what you saw was the best (top 10 or so) of the best (top 150 Sparq). Only 3 guys broke 4.4, out of thousands of athletes and almost all of the top ranked players in the nation.

Also, some of the legit 4.45 and under guys are lowly recruited 5'6 DBs who are track stars. A great example is Hakeem Deggs who is 150 pounds soaking wet And did not finish in the top 1,000 in upper body strength. I do not expect SEC offers.

To compare, Altee with his 7th nationally 4.42 40 is 12th nationally in the power ball toss (bench press replacement).

Upon further review, OJ gets the freak of the week award.

#2 nationally in upper body strength and explosiveness, so good luck jamming him at the line. Also relates well to blocking.

At 6'5.5 and 220 pounds he is one of 2 players 220 pounds of heavier to run a sub 4.5 40. Of the more than 350 players tested who were 6'4 or taller, OJ is the only one to run under 4.65.

At 6'5.5 and with a 34 inch vertical, his hands can cover some serious ground. With an average wingspan you have to figure he can go 11 feet up to get a ball.
UMMMM correction last night alone there was 5 guys breaking or going 4.4. As well as OJ during the day and brazil going 4.3. So rough estimate is about 10- 15 guys did. But heres the thing, we all know these guys say 4.4 on there profile and its hand timed so human error and reaction time makes it .2 to .4 difference. Also @ the nfl combine is when these times will tell if these guys are running that fast or not. Basically confirming what times they got.

they do but a lot of people were saying how the mitchell kid got a 4.39 and don't believe it. That is why i am saying we will find out @ the nfl Combine and if you read my post on the other page it would stated that they were laser timed

Re: The Opening

Ramsey got a 4.4, but I think only 3 beat that.

In any case we are talking 25-30 out of thousands breaking 4.5. That sounds pretty legit, because 4.5 is blazing. Darius Hanks had a HS combine 40 of like 4.46 and did 4.66 five years later in the NFL combine.

Want to see non-legit times? Look at the Scout.com combines. A quick google search for the 2009 combine tour shows 12 players just at the ATL combine running under 4.5, 33 nationally at 4.46 or better, and 15 under 4.4 nationally, even a 4.29. I always felt you needed to add .1 to their #s.

He got into full stride immediately. 4.39, maybe, maybe not, but he sure was legitimately "fast". They said the timer started with the first motion off the line, so maybe he was better w his first motion than some others.

Re: The Opening

Brice Ramsey is not looking impressive. Bateman looks good, not super sharp

The AU TE commit Arshad Jackson looks good as a receiver and Bateman seems to like him.

Jam you can see the replay on ESPN3.com. Mitchell was flat out flying especially for his size.

look i never said he wasn't flying or doing well just that some people didn't believe it. And that in a few years we will all see @ the combine about these times. The surface you run on and the conditions do matter. Also he isn't 230 like he has on his profile he was i believe 215 which is still incredible for him. But we all see when the college players who pay for professional trainers, speed coaches, and spend 24/7 for months at a time training don't run that fast at the combine.
