As I've posted before, "Hotty Toddy" has nothing to do with drinking at all. It derived from the expression "Hoighty-Toighty" ("High and Mighty," as applied to someone "putting on airs"), which was still in general use when I was a kid. In the late 19th century, it had elided to "Hidey-Tidey," and then to "Hotty-Toddy." And I agree that the Rammer Jammer yell makes me cringe when it's applied to some team like the upcoming hapless FAU team. OTOH, I've enjoyed it when beating someone like AU or LSU. It wasn't around when I was in school from the mid-50s through the early 60s. In fact the school newspaper, the Rammer-Jammer, had just been discontinued a year or so before I entered...Actually I do. Never liked that either. I have always thought it was classless and unsportsmanlike. I usally keep that to myself thoughHowever, just the two words Hotty Toddy together is enough to put it over my edge and laugh at it.
