Debates

If Mitt wins I fear the U.S. will start nation building all over again in the Middle east, while our nation's infrastructure falls apart.

How do you reach that conclusion? My fear is that if Obama stays in he continue not to nation build here. The only thing that has grown under his leadership is the number of bankruptcies and the national debt.

I find it interesting that there have been over 220 posts on this and the last debate and nearly every one deals with the style of the candidates and very few deal with substance. Its become how they said it not what they said. We have become so addicted to being entertained that substance gets lost in the debates. You can learn more watching The Daily Show than you can watching these debates so far.

It's because after all the fact checkers finish it turns out there were no facts to discuss:biggrin:

There was a thread, or a post in a thread, a few weeks ago around here that showed statistical evidence that debates have no effect on the outcome of an election so, why do ya'll care about these debates so much. They mean nothing, no one says anything we haven't heard a hundred times by now and they ruin my normal night of TV viewing. I despise debates and I don't understand why 15 networks have to broadcast them, they should be regulated to C-SPAN. Seriously, debates historically prove nothing so why does everyone go nuts over them, especially the VP debate? Football was on so I didn't see a single minute of the debate and, based on this thread, I didn't miss anything. Debates just aren't needed these days IMO. We get non stop 24/7 election coverage now on a hundred different news networks, social media and both nominees get so much air time that the debates are just a waste of time.

The biggest thing that I got out of the debate last night was that one man (who is second on the ticket) showed himself to be controlled, intelligent, disciplined, and professional. The other guy (also second on the ticket) showed himself to be juvenile, unprofessional, rude, and uninformed. Now, for one of these two men to become the President something bad has to happen such as an assassination or a crime, either of which would bring the country to its knees. At that point we would need someone to stand before the American people and calmly say that we will overcome this and be greater than before. I do not think that an old man who cannot stop laughing and grinning, during what should be an adult conversation, would be up to that task. Joe, you were at a VP debate, not the Houndstooth.

And yet you're an Obamatron who is nothing but style with zero substance. Unless you meant to include yourself into falling for style over substance then carry on. :)

Every time Ryan began speaking Biden was harking back to the last comedy show he saw back in the early 80's.

Gallagher.

Watermelons - he was imagining the sight of watermelons being splattered all over the people in the front two or three rows. Over and over. 30 years. And he just couldn't quit giggling. Funny as hell, huh Joe?

Since when on NS were we supposed to discuss real topics and not make fun of people?! I'm confused...am I in the wrong place again!? :conf2:

I understand how you feel I felt the same way, but then I turned 20...;)

Biden said that no one had requested additional security at the consulate in Benghazi. Yet, such a request had been forwarded to DC in June.
Either he and his boss are incompetent or they are aware and are lying to cover up that incompetence. Neither bodes well for their competence for the offices they seek.

And this comment has nothing to do with how he said it. It is solely based on what he said (and what he failed to do to secure the US Embassy).

Is it just me or why do I not believe Biden when he speaks on behalf of the "middle class" and seeking to help them...
