I'm not sure we know for sure what organization the attackers were part of.First, it's not a stretch at all to say Obama helped the Muslim Brotherhood get a hold in Libya. We had intelligence saying that the rebels were a part of the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Queda. Obama helps them by using drones and NATO jets, plus it is highly likely that he armed them in some way.
It is possible that they used weapons left over from the war.
Its not a stretch at all and our embassy is still fine. Its in Tripoli. I'm not sure what the new government could have done to prevent the attack but so far they appear to be friendly to the US & NATO. Egypt was very slow to do anything, Libya has been supportive.Second, to say that this new Libyian government is more friendly to us is a stretch. Our embassy was just burned to the ground and we had four people killed under this new government's watch. When was the last time something like that happened?
The additional security was for the embassy in Tripoli. How many exposed embassies, consulates. compounds etc do we have through out this entire area? Unfortunately, there will always be some exposure from attacks like this one. And it was Ryan who wanted to cut funding for things like this.Third, what exactly do you think Bush should have done with that information? Should he have shut down all air traffic on the possibility that something might happen? Nothing like that had ever happened before so it's hard to know how to prevent it the first time. You have the advantage of hind sight now and I don't think you could come up with anything that would have prevented 9/11. We've had our embassy attacked before and Obama had prior knowledge that something was going on and he still did nothing but try to deflect by blaming a video. They asked for more security and were denied, yet Obama and Biden want to act like they had no knowledge of the situation. The two situations aren't comparable, IMO.
