The Grove is going to replace the Bermuda Triangle for lost planes and recruits.

Living in Memphis, I am subjected to all the chatter about what a great recruiter Freeze has become. We all know the truth... I wonder if Mike Slime will cover for them like he protected the barn. I like Ole Sis. I like going to the games (50 minutes from my front door to the Grove), I am just afraid in their zeal to beat State that they are beginning a NZAA journey that they will not enjoy or soon forget.

I see it like this...LT wasn't really solid for Bama at all, since Foster's first flip to the barn I wrote him off, and the jury is still out on Liner (I think even literally, maybe?)
I will start to get a little anxious if they flip any solid Bama commits, and I don't see that happening.
It is Ole Miss we are talking about, and unless they start signing 5 stars at every position, IMO they will always be ol spit.
Seems like on another thread someone was worrying about how we would squeeze in all of the possible commitments; I trust in CNS because he knows exactly what he is doing, and I do not.

Good luck on EV this weekend. I'm not sure we actually were serious about Eddie coming to ND b/c of the cold - lots of times on our board italics = sarcasm.

Also, there is an entire thread dedicated to the 'bama Deer Antler spray; most posters in that thread were/are familiar with it and said that it doesn't really provide any acute advantages and is converted into something natural. If anyone said/posted that the Antler spray is directly correlated to the result of the NCG, they are morons.

I also think it's between ND & bama, although I think UCLA is strongly in the mix as well. I know that EV's mom is all in for ND, but if every recruit did what his mom told him to do, we would get most recruits.

Ive been bullish on our chances of getting Vanderdoes since we entered his recruitment, that hasnt changed. Hopefully I'm right and this weekend locks it up for us.

For what it is worth, I much prefer the Notre Dame fans at the BCSNCG, over the Texas and LSwho fans. Every Notre Dame fan we met "got it". They understood football and were fun to be around. Did not meet a single jerk. Wish we could find a way to play the Irish more often.

Give us EV and this can happen. #Pasadena

I just watched Vanderdoes' film for the first time, as I thought he's been a long shot at best for the past few weeks. WOW!!! I'm glad he'll be on campus for the last recruiting weekend of the year!

He looks like a young Marcell Dareus in terms of athleticism and the ability to fit into multiple positions within our scheme. I think he is now by favorite recruit. Hope Saban rolls out the Crimson carpet for EV and family. We could certainly use a DL with his skill set.

Reading the ND Rivals board, I got that there was a mixture of serious and sarcasm in both the climate and deer antler threads, with perhaps a bit more seriousness in the antler thread, where the majority seemed to feel the title would default to ND. (They obviously didn't read what happened to USC's title.) I hadn't read that EV's mom favored ND. That's a powerful advantage. Where does that info come from?

You have been pretty precient, Poke. (Sorry for alliterative excesses). He seems to have only exuded positives towards us since the beginning. Hoping EV and his family's trip is a confirmation of a lot of good feelings.

Jason Sapp from 247 posted an update after his visit. Also http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-vanderdoes-official-visit-to-alabama-is-huge(saying Eddie's mom wants ND b/c of what they can offer off the field). See also http://slapthesign.com/2013/01/28/vanderdoes-down-to-notre-dame-and-alabama/
(same).
I know the sources are BR and another, but the Sapp update is subscription. Also B&G recruiting reported it. I think it is an advantage, but I don't think it is conclusive or dependent on his decision at all. EV seems like a smart kid and will weigh all of the pros and cons.

And as far as the weather is concerned, at least it isn't 25 degrees and snowy on your campus right now, like it was at ND...

Since I posted, I've confirmed that the Vs did indeed have a nice visit to ND. It's now up to Bama to make our best pitch and may the better win. I'll look at the links. BTW, it's not wise to scoff at what Bama can offer off the field, believe it or not...

Well, I've read the links. I'm not blown away. It's well to remember that Saban's record, once he gets an OV with the parents along is very impressive. The opening conversation is always about academics and the importance of getting a degree...

I agree. I think ND reputation of "off the field" is intriguing, but in no way do I discount Saban's & Bama's ability to show what they have to offer as far as academics are concerned. Great example is Barrett.

One reason I think ND may have an advantage here (besides my subjective bias) is because the bama visit is right before NSD. Eddie has had a really long recruitment, and I'm not sure if he may feel that going 'bama would be a "rash decision," with the visit being so close to NSD.

Then again, he easily could have been leaning 'bama for awhile, and this is the cherry on top. Who knows. I know both of our classes are extremely solid no matter what.

This one is a battle plain and simple. Both schools have much to offer in terms of education and the grid iron. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I like our chances with having his last OV.

ND's academic reputation is higher than Bama's but we have had tremendous football academic success since Saban has arrived and we are consistently ranked in the top 50 public universities as well as individual students winning distinguished national academic awards. Our greatest advantage (we currently have this against every school) is the number of millionaires we turn out that play football.
