Thanks for your input in your other post. It was very informative and sort of explains a lot of things. It's always good to hear from a sane fan of another school.

Your description of the Aggies is SO similar to our description/feelings about Auburn. Little brother "look at me" syndrome. So most of us totally get that.

That's a very good and thoughtful post. I had not read it until after I made my post above. As I said in that post, perhaps Saban was just doing some private ruminating with a close friend. Maybe he's the sort of person who just likes to play with possibilities in his mind rather than the daydreaming most of us do from time to time. Maybe Ms. Terry reins that in and brings him back to reality. :D It has to be flattering to be pursued the way he is. As I said, IDK, in the end, a logical explanation for his remarks. From his most recent remarks, both to recruits and to other people, I think he stays...

I'll say this - if our coach is out there working his butt off recruiting and has no intentions of leaving (which is what he has said all along), then I think its pretty unfair to question, doubt the man, and send the board into a frenzy based on "something that could have been a reality". If nothing was concrete, then it was a rumor, and people have jumped off the cliff for no reason. I love this site because normally we don't have to deal with that kind of thing. If a nervous vibe or someone's conclusion not based on true reality caused this thread to take the direction that it did, I am very disappointed with that.

There is way more stuff on our side but my first post was already way too long so I left a lot out. If it becomes relevant, I'll post but most of it is just speculation and chatter.

As for the Aggies, according to them they don't care about us 'sips anymore, and they are focusing on the SEC heavy hitters. i.e. Alabama My dad and sister went to A&M and all I hear about is Alabama this, that. So now you guys get two little brothers. Congrats!

No one in their right mind believes that Saban is reading TideFans (or any other college football forum). But it is very reasonable for Saban to weigh his credibility if he is considering a move to Texas. Would another recruit or parent every believe a word he says again?

Saban is not stupid. This matters in his line of work.

don't be surprise if Texas hasn't already contacted Gus. just wait till after the NC game, I'm sure you will have his full attention.

First, this could absolutely be a ploy to get Brown down the road. Saban might not be in play at all - just a shiny object to dangle in front of the PTB at Texas who have strong relationships with Brown. (He has many backers) Once Mack is out and it becomes clear that Saban isn't coming they can move on to other candidates.

Second, if the above were so, Saban would not necessarily respond to the media firestorm. He does not like to respond to this kind of thing and will generally only do so if cornered. Sure, that makes Alabama folks uncomfortable, but don't think that Saban is above making people squirm every once in a while. After all, the people who think he might leave for Texas are really questioning his integrity, aren't they? I mean, he just said that he isn't going anywhere a few weeks ago.

I'd add to that the fact that UT folks could control much of the news during this time... knowing he'd be on the recruiting trail and unavailable for comment (aka... not running into reporters). For me, the timing in all this is very interesting... but it seems UT folks are desperate enough to do just about anything to get rid of Brown (as Quixoft seems to verify). BTW, Quixoft... thanks for the info - verifies some things we've heard.
 
It seems the insiders and mods on both of the big Texas sites are saying this will all be resolved this Friday. That's too far away for me. I'm going to need a new F5 key.

This actually brings up something I meant to touch on. Belmont(the building where our athletics leaders offices are) is very good in spinning stories and running smoke screens. They've even been caught red handed with their people on the Texas pay sites providing false information. One of our insiders was even sent a threatening email about litigation if he didn't stop leaking info. The head of this part of our athletic department, Nick Vionis, is scum. One of his lackeys was busted leaking information to Belmont from a private board the big money guys use. Using the freedom of information act, we got to see the actual email the big money guy(think a Texas MLB team owner family) sent to Vionis as a result of the snooping. He was very angry. It was awesome. So in short, don't believe a damn thing the UT Athletic department says right now. They spin, spin, spin trying to control the message.
