perhaps, But Mal Moore and Bama was very patient on CNS from Miami.

I think if Texas wants Gus, they will wait esp. if auburn wins the NC. just my 2 cents.
Mal was told to wait. Patterson would have to know for a fact to wait on Gus. If he just waits and Gus stays, he looks like horrible and hires someone no UT fan wants.

Agreed. Texas can't afford to wait a month. Our 2014 recruiting class is sub par as it is.
Texas and recruiting has never been the issue. their problem has been under Mack evaluating the right personal and developing talent once on campus. both aspects that has not gone very well in the last 5 years for the longhorns.

This actually brings up something I meant to touch on. Belmont(the building where our athletics leaders offices are) is very good in spinning stories and running smoke screens. They've even been caught red handed with their people on the Texas pay sites providing false information. One of our insiders was even sent a threatening email about litigation if he didn't stop leaking info. The head of this part of our athletic department, Nick Vionis, is scum. One of his lackeys was busted leaking information to Belmont from a private board the big money guys use. Using the freedom of information act, we got to see the actual email the big money guy(think a Texas MLB team owner family) sent to Vionis as a result of the snooping. He was very angry. It was awesome. So in short, don't believe a damn thing the UT Athletic department says right now. They spin, spin, spin trying to control the message.
This was pretty evident during the last conference realignment episode.

I was not aware just how much of a mess the Powers situation is until I looked on regents website.

I'm on this Sports/HipHop blah blah site, and this guy has this thread with "Nick Saban welcome to Austin" he's a paid member of a couple of UT sites and has the insider info he claims, then a tweet came up saying Saban is sitting up on a 10 year deal worth 10M and a 1% share of the Longhorn network, can someone confirm that he's been offered that if anything. Sure my post will probably get deleted but I need answers!

I'll say this - if our coach is out there working his butt off recruiting and has no intentions of leaving (which is what he has said all along), then I think its pretty unfair to question, doubt the man, and send the board into a frenzy based on "something that could have been a reality". If nothing was concrete, then it was a rumor, and people have jumped off the cliff for no reason. I love this site because normally we don't have to deal with that kind of thing. If a nervous vibe or someone's conclusion not based on true reality caused this thread to take the direction that it did, I am very disappointed with that.
This was not based on a rumor. Your opinion on how the board should be run is registered. From now on, keep it to yourself...

You may need answers, but this is the wrong place to look...

I can't get on the board much during the day anymore. Thank y'all for keeping this thing going over the 10 hours or so each day I can't throw in my two cents. As I've said before, I just want resolution. I want to enjoy my Christmas with my family, take in the bowl games, see how the BCSNCG plays out and then roll into my daughter's softball season all without worrying about any of this. So, he can sign and hang or not and go - either way, let's just turn the page on this season. RTR

I think you echo the sentiments of a lot of us...

I thought you were kidding. It's too high. In the end UT is a public institution. In the off record comp, Saban has been very well looked after...

As he should be IMO. Earl do you think Saban's new contract will assure him of being the highest on record paid coach in college football just in case Texas does go to the bank with a new coach?

That's exactly what I told a friend of mine today when he asked about UT's denial of MB's resignation. So... Would you agree that Saban could have been used as a pawn in the game to oust Brown and some others there?

You know this kind of stuff sorta takes the fun out of it. First we lose to the Barn in some kind of sleep walking nightmare of a game and now this. Its A long time since i was 13 and dreaming of playing for the Bear. Nothing is as simple as it once was. Im thinking we will have a coach when we kickoff next year and I wont be able to not cheer for whoever he is and the boys who play for him. RTR.

I think he'll continue to be that guy, as he should. After all, the only reason for UT to create the "highest coach" would be to get Saban. If they can't get him, there's no one else they would have to even remotely pay that much money for...

I think there's a very good chance that Saban's name has been used in that manner...
