Anyone think this is also a ploy by Bama? We aren't in the championship game, so why not keep our name and Saban's name out there. Then when we finally have it come out that he extended his contract...it is like "Hey look at us....Bama is that good to keep Saban".
Two things come to mind:
a) have we suddenly fallen to a point where we need to get our name in the public eye, in this way?
b) if your supposition is true, I, and likely the vast majority of the Bama fanbase, would not find it amusing... in the least. The UA admin would have earned every bit of grief directed its way.

Man this is tiring! For what I've read about Sexton, he is a pig! It's all a game and the prize is the almighty dollar. I have no respect for the guy. If Saban goes, he goes. If he stays, he stays. I quit losing sleep over Bama football about two weeks ago.

I still love what he's done for Bama, but is his heart here? Or just his bank account?

Nah....it's a ploy to break the Cam Scam thread post count. ;)

My favorite thing so far is the multiple tweets of people saying that Saban is going to coach BOTH Alabama and Texas next year.

Come to think of it - that's actually almost possible, har har. The following are the games he will be on the sidelines for which team

August 30 - Alabama vs WVA (UT plays UNT)
September 6 - Texas vs BYU (UA plays FAU)
September 13 - Texas vs UCLA (UA plays USM)
September 20 - UA vs Florida (Texas has open date)
September 27 - Texas vs Kansas (UA has open date)
October 4 - both games (Texas-Baylor, Alabama- Ole Miss) - has already arranged for this to be morning kickoff in Texas followed by quick post-game flight to Oxford for late ESPN 8 pm start time
October 11 - both games (Texas-OU, Alabama-Arky; fortunately, Dallas is a quick hop to Fayetteville and the OU game is usually at 11 am)
October 18 - Alabama-Texas A&M (Texas plays Iowa St, who needs a coach for that?)
October 25 - Alabama-Tennessee (Texas plays K-State but Mack Brown will interim for this game)
November 1 - Texas-Texas Tech (Tide off week)
November 8 - Alabama-LSU (since he will have already played WVA, he's leaving Mack the game plan to invoke)
November 15 - Texas-Okie St (will leave Kirby to get OJT against Miss St)
November 22 - Alabama-W Carolina (Texas off week, plus WCU is "a challenge" that "needs our fans there the entire game")
November 27 - Texas-TCU
November 29 - Iron Bowl
December 6 - SECCG

The only problem is that if they both go unbeaten, he'll have to figure out who he wants to coach in the national title game.

It's a DONE DEAL, people!!! :)

Guys, I didn't come on here to post rumors, but it is a fact that CNS lost millions in bad real estate deals. He lost it with partners from both LSU and Alabama. The Texas boosters have offered to make him whole again as a signing bonus.

Here is an article of the bankruptcy of Tommy Spinosa of Baton Rouge, whom CNS partnered with at LSU:

You ought to actually around here - that's OLD, OLD NEWS to us. And I mean old.

We already know about this. Some on here have more intimate knowledge about it than others, but this is not news.

Ian (ex-JOX) says he is "in the minority" that thinks CNS will go to Bevo Land. The other idiots he is teamed up with think Austin is a much better place to live, so no reason to stay at UA.

Their other "insights" are more insipid.
The morons on the 92.9 morning show here in Atlanta were using the same reasoning months ago. Their "point" was that there's only so much to do in Tuscaloosa, and that Austin is just so much more vibrant.

Yes... they actually spent several segments talking about Nick Saban choosing Austin because of all the things to do.

 on TideFans.com

Definitely good P.R. to keep Saban and Bama's name out there. I'd wait a few days and let the extra media attention help with the big recruiting this weekend.

Regardless of how this ends, Coach has damaged his image with me. He has hired an agent who is treating the players, the fans and the recruits as pawns....

Not to be argumentative but...

1) Coach Bryant had (IIRC, I was not born yet but I've read) a signed/sealed/delivered contract with the Miami Dolphins when they were an expansion team.

2) Coach Stallings left during the middle of a probation that he oversaw (no, I'm not blaming him for it). In fact, he didn't get any kind of farewell tour or congratulations because he suddenly announced his retirement after the 1996 Iron Bowl (before the losses of recruits would show). My understanding (what I've heard) is that it was a reaction to the President of UA (Sorenson) hiring the rather crooked Bockrath as an AD over Mal Moore. Whether true or not, the fact remains that he did leave us with bad times coming and at a bad time. I don't blame Coach Stallings for everything that happened, but let's not sugarcoat it, either.

Out where? It's not like Alabama just arrived in the college football world and no one's ever heard of us.

That same agent brokered the deal when he was hired here, but no one seemed to mind him then.
Again, CNS has done nothing to indicate that he going anywhere. This has all come from outside sources. He has been out working his butt off all week long and doing his job.

I keep hearing that - and having been both places all I can say is......HUH?

It's a university town just like T-Town. OK, it's about ten times the size but so what? Dallas is up the road, San Antone down it, so Austin hardly registers. Besides - that also translates into MORE DISTRACTIONS for college football players.

I'm just saying.

Bryant was 53 in 1965.....and toyed with the Pros, yes.....not 62 and telling everyone this is his last stop....
