Saban signs multi-year extension w/Bama, shorthorns on suicide watch...

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Originally, they wanted to use NYBF's life to model the Dos Equis commercials, but realized it would be too unbelievable, so they settled on the current ad line.

Yeah, he was stabbed and the knife bled the death.

What an impact this Texas thing has had. It has made many of us have to start back our anxiety pills and has gotten Sumlin and Malzahn a nice raise. Wouldn't it be ironic if Mack goes no where.

Just weary of this drama...Well CNS, why not put an end to the drama?!!

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Texas history is very interesting. You are correct. The fortunes of UT-Austin and A&M are tied to oil. Both University Systems are among the richest in the nation, because when the Republic of Texas joined the Union we were told to keep all that worthless land, which it turns out was sitting on lots of oil. The state used that money for its universities. BTW It was an alumni of A&M, George Mitchell, who figured out fracking which has led to the current oil boom.
Hydraulic fracturing "fracking" is used in the production of natural gas and is the source of much debate on it's environmental impact . Do a little research and find out what Halburton and similar companies are doing in your own back yard and the rest of the country !

People are working and there are plenty of very good paying jobs in the Eagle Ford Shale. The US is now the largest oil producer in the world - exceeding even Saudi Arabia. By any measure what is happening is incredible. We ALL benefit.

Tell that to the people where the ground water has been polluted by fracking of wells close to their homes . Some of them can actually ignite their tap water because so much methane and other VOC's are now in their wells as the result of fracking . I have worked on Superfund clean up sites that were the result of the oil shale industry in the 70's after the oil embargo . There will be plenty of these types of jobs in the near future . By the way , Saban isn't going to Texas !

You two take that crap to the Non Sports board. Regardless of my opinion (I'm in the oil and gas industry) it does not belong on this board and sure doesn't belong in this thread.Just a friendly warning before the mods catch up with it.

Well, first let's be clear. I don't think worrying about fan anxiety is his priority. Besides, quite a few fans made a point to let it be known that they didn't want CNS telling them how long to stay at games...

Personally, if this isn't fully resolved before the end of the recruiting dead period, I think it could start to have a negative impact. Right now, it's idle speculation that really won't die either way, until Texas has a new coach. Don't forget what's going on, Briles got a raise, Gus got a raise, Sumlin got a raise... CNS should get the biggest raise of them all, and it makes sense it's not completely resolved yet.

The good news is that the whole Texas thing continues to be a train wreck, and it's hard to imagine any continued desire on his part to actually be a part of that mess.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

NYBF has probably already applied....he doesn't need the money, but he likes bull-droppings.

Best thing that can happen here is for Mack to stay and go 11 - 1 next year. He came on strong at the end of this year. He needs to get the right coordinators and stop the revolving door for coordinators that has been Texas the last several years.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

I ain't gonna lie. I come back every couple of hours hoping for positive news, dreading bad news....

I never ever thought I would think about Mack Brown while laying in bed. It's actually sort of creepy.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Good morning! AJ won the Maxwell and Nick Saban said something interesting at the award ceremony in Orlando. He said,“Players don’t care what you know until they know you care." He was talking about John Gagliardi, but the implication is clear - he cares about his players. He is not Fran. He isn't going anywhere.

Stay warm - it is cold outside.
