Re: Rumph to Texas

Who is the D. Line coach at LSU? They always seem to be good. If he is good, make him an offer.

If we get Orgeron, we could also hire Houston Nutt as his side kick on the D Line. Any other Fired coaches out there available?

Fulmer? Troll Bama and TN fans. Haha.

I know its been said before and that the recruits don't do this but: commit to the school and not a position coach or head coach. It is very unlikely a position coach will be there for your entire college career. The school will be though. JMO

Was it Orgeron calling UT commits and telling them not to go to class after he/Kiffin went to USCw?

And Kiffin himself said they didn't sign up to wear the yellow jersey, but because of the relationship they make with a coaching staff? I don't remember the exact quote, but I do recall the yellow jersey part ruffled a lot of UT fans' feathers.

I rather like that one, in fact. Really ticked the ut faithful off, which pleases me.

I don't disagree on the facts. Try telling that to a 17- 18 year old who hasn't yet been dope-slapped by life.

Assistant coach turnover has an effect on recruiting, whether we like it or not. Sometimes, that's a net positive. Sometimes, it's a net negative.

Strong / Texas vs. Saban /Alabama? If you weren't under pressure (self-inflicted or otherwise) why would you make that lateral move?

My guess is a temporary dip in recruiting from the guys Rumph was responsible for. Longer term upgrade in DL coaching, and therefore long term upgrade in recruiting.

We're fine.

Do you not think the compliance department would watch him? Why not trust Saban to make him walk a tight rope?

It's not about trusting somebody. Someone like coach Orgeron will do anything to land X recruit and be successful as a position coach because he knows he is not gonna be here long anyways. He does not have to deal with the rummage and wreckage that he leaves. Saban can't be in the room everytime he talks to a recruit, and it just takes one time, especially someone who has a track record of it.

Every coaches we bring in, I've heard this " I don't trust the coach and his recruiting!" If only, they would do their homework......
