New coach search...

Yeah, some of you guys are right. We shouldn't try to go after a home run hire. We have no shot. Just a waste of time. We should just try to maintain and continue to be mired in the mediocrity. Not trying should accomplish that, right? Yeah, let's go with that. The lower-tier guys. Riiiiight...

Blah-dee-frickin'-blah...
Thank you. Alabama should strive to be the best at everything.

I don't give a ladybug who he ticked off at the UA Board. They need to get over themselves and bury the hatchet. He is an excellent coach, runs a clean program, and would do very well back home in Alabama. Not sure how his time at UAB hurt him when he went 89-41 with 3 out of 4 tournament appearances.

I think CNS may aid in helping us get Marshall. He knows full well that the backing will be here and that $ is no object. If Meyer and Donovan can do it so can CNS and CGM.

My only worry about CGM is whether he can coexist with Football.

Mike Anderson would also be a good choice. There are a lot of good choices out there...not just Marshall. MSU got a pretty good one today.

Well, I don't think Marshall will be the next coach, but I may be wrong, . It certainly won't be the first time.

I don't think anyone ever said we shouldn't try for a "home run" hire, but I disagree with what constitutes a "home run" hire. Some give the impression that if we don't get Marshall anyone else is "lower tier" who we'll have to "settle" for and we'll be forever entombed in the bowels of the SEC. That's simply not true. There several good coaches out there, anyone of whom would constitute a "home run" hire...and IMO anyone who thinks the BB program is doomed to mediocrity without Marshall are the ones selling the athletic department and program short.

Trust me, while Marshall is certainly a good coach, he's not the next John Wooden who'll lead Bama to 10 national championships. Whomever is the next coach at Bama will be a "home run" hire, heck, most thought CAG was a "home run" hire six years ago.

Just watched Ben Howland's introductory conference at Mississippi state......I feel like they really got a steal....he's a great coach and is gonna turn that program around.....I sure do hope we can lure Gregg Marshall from Wichita State....I would hate for us to fall behind Mississippi State in basketball

If we were to pay 3.75 which is the number I heard on the radio, we would immediately be in the top 6 in coaches salaries. He'd be one notch higher than Izzo.

and with all due respect, and respect is due, that would be ridiculous. He's not Izzo in my opinion. He may be eventually, but right now, no.

MSU made a very bold move and I applaud them for that. I'm excited about the future of SEC basketball given the coaching upgrades that have happened recently.

I wouldn't go after Marshall. I'd go even bigger...NBA coach...the NBA draw for these kids is huge. Marshall seems kind of arrogant if you ask me..."Crazy Alabama offer" NEXT!!
