I disagree. Though I do agree that his refusal to do so raises some red flags.
Would you want to extend the requirement to other offices?

I think the President, Vice President, and Congress -- all parties who can either sign or vote for federal tax legislation -- should either release their tax returns publically, or hand them to an empowered ethics office that publicizes any benefits these parties will receive from upcoming legislation. We used to have a Congress where the mere appearance of impropriety would carry enough shame to cause abstention from certain votes. But that was a long time ago. Shame no longer limits American politics.I disagree. Though I do agree that his refusal to do so raises some red flags.

The measure  added late Friday to the $1.5 trillion package of tax cuts  reduces the tax rate on "pass-through" income derived from real estate. Owners of such businesses are allowed to "pass through" the profits from these enterprises to their individual tax returns, which lowers the amount of tax they owe.
Those benefits will now go to roughly four dozen Republican House and Senate members who voted for the bill, according to an analysis of personal financial disclosures for CNBC by the Center for Responsive Politics. They include Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Bob Corker of Tennessee and James Inhofe of Oklahoma and Reps. Diane Black of Tennessee and Vern Buchanan of Florida.

Dozens of lawmakers stand to reap a tax windfall due to a GOP loophole
WASHINGTON  President Donald Trump on Wednesday commuted the prison sentence of an Iowa kosher meatpacking executive sentence to 27 years in prison for money laundering  the first time he’s used the presidential power.
I wonder if Orin Hatch's last minute real estate loophole was added to make him money or whether lobbyists got to him or just to buy Corker's vote.
There should at least be some agency in the government that looks over all politicians tax returns to make sure they do not vote on bills that unfairly benefit them. I do not mind tax returns not being viewable by the entire public, but someone should be able to see them to keep politicians honest.

Yes, I do. I really think that one should have to clear the same background checks as are required in order to get a job in the civil service with a security clearance. It would solve a lot of problems...I disagree. Though I do agree that his refusal to do so raises some red flags.

In private testimony before the House Intelligence Committee this week, McCabe told lawmakers that Comey informed him of conversations he had with President Donald Trump soon after they happened, according to three sources with knowledge of the matter.
The testimony suggests McCabe could corroborate Comey's account, including Trump's ask that Comey show him loyalty, which the President has strongly disputed. Comey previously testified that he briefed some of his senior colleagues at the FBI about this conversation with Trump.
Pizzagate 2.0... Trump supporter John Schnatter to step down as CEO of Papa John's. Who would have thought blaming your decline in sales (from crappy pizza) on NFL players kneeling during the anthem was a bad idea?
