So does the death of Star Wars start with Solo?

I'm just waiting for the movie on how they designed the Death Star with an exhaust port of doom, and then the sequel, in which they forgo the exhaust port in favor of a larger channel big enough for the Millenium Falcon. Perhaps they could be called Derp Star, Parts 1 and 2?
did you see Rogue One? They covered that. Galen Ersa designed the reactor/exhaust point as a single point of failure so that the death star could be destroyed. The entire movie relied on that point and getting that info to Leia and the rebelion

Am I the only one that has only seen the original 3 movies? Maybe one of these days I will watch all the other ones.
i gave up caring much about it after the return of the jedi abomination. i saw a couple of the recent ones, rouge one and one other on an airplane. they were fine for airplane movies, but i missed out on a lot of the effects.

The only SW film I've enjoyed was Rogue One. The reason? None of the Skywalker drama crap anywhere near the film. (Though Felicity Jones being a better lead than Daisy Ridley, and Maks Mikkelsen are other contributing factors.)

As for Solo, I'm just NOT that interesting in the film.

I'm hearing that Solo is setting Memorial Day weekend box-office records. I'm guessing the boycott isn't having much of an effect?

I really liked the movie, and would go see it again. I did notice scenes where the acting was a little flat but nothing egregious, and you see a lot of that in sci-fi movies. Two friends that I saw it with who have read most of the novels had a positive view but were a little more neutral.

It’s setting records for a box office failure according to Hollywood reporter.

Randolph is pretty accurate on movie math and it appears that the “ fans “ are going to win because a 4 day weekend is producing 115 at the most. 139 is the record.

The problem with The Last Jedi wasn't that the ESS JAY DUBS (!!!) destroyed Star Wars with rank feminism but that Rian Johnson literally threw out all of Abrams guidance for where to go from The Force Awakens to setup for the finale. It made the relatively conservative attempt in TFA completely meaningless because TLJ mostly destroyed what we knew about Star Wars over the course of a few hours. And even that can be fine...a middle act that shakes everything up is not a bad way to go. It is only a problem because it felt almost like the leadership for TLJ hated Star Wars and wanted to take a dump on all that was scared to the fans.

I have enjoyed TFA and TLJ but though Rogue One was pretty bland and not very entertaining but perception is reality. It has been pretty dang funny how regressive the typical sci-fi fan is considering that stuff like Star Trek is basically space communism in action and it is all usually very forward thinking and progressive.

Interesting. I read something saying that the Thursday night take for it set a record for a Memorial Day weekend Thursday opening. I'm guessing, then, that either that info was incorrect or else the numbers aren't carrying over into the rest of the weekend.

Thought it was decent but not great or anything. Donald Glover did pull off a pretty awesome Lando imo.

I’m not one that is tenfold had people who believe in conspiracy everywhere, but sometimes big movie at industries like Disney try to pipe up there are projected numbers to boost interest. I think these three movie at magazines that Randolph talks about Are pretty reputable especially variety magazine. So I think I trust them a little bit more than some of the Disney leeches. But the truth of the matter is we won’t know until Tuesday morning of who’s right but if deadline is giving them that canna numbers and it’s pretty bad and th arm pretty reputable especially variety magazine. Shoulda done the Lando standalone instead of this Solo standalone. There is not an actor alive right now - that anyone knows about at least - that can recapture the charisma of a young Harrison Ford as Han Solo but there is a talent who could capture Billy Dee Williams as Lando.

Unfortunately, if they're gonna do standalones that involves younger versions of the original cast then they're gonna have to approach it as "lets find someone who can do [X]" first instead of "let do [Y] so we need to find an [X]"

It has almost officially bombed at this point!!! $83.3 Mil 3-Day and $101 Mil 4-Day Domestic after originally estimating $170 Mil!!! BwAHAHAHAHAHahahahahaHAHAHA.

Just the filming budget on this hot mess was $250 Mil....add in marketing and it's on pace to take a LOSS!!! I love it!!

This is just a weird stance to take when you supposedly love something.

I will never understand supposed fan reactions like this.

I love George Lucas's Star Wars. This Disney version is an abomination and I want Kathleen Kennedy and her SJW Identity politics pushing agenda muppets gone with her.

I'm more than happy for a few films to fail to get this franchise back to it's Original Tone and Mythos instead of the current Meta version that is trying to mirror our USA political landscape. I'll watch CNN or Fox if I want politics shoved in my face..... not Star Wars.

Just got home from watching it. I find myself confused. Rogue One was a much better anthology movie than this one. Same scenario as Rogue One, take a couple lines from the OT and build a movie. The ending just left me totally confused. Then my kids tell me the guy who plays Han has signed on to do 3 movies. I guess he’ll be in Fett’s movie. Not sure what else.
