I am going to have to stop putting stats out because I can't seem to get them right. PPG means points per game but in this case it should be total points allowed this season. Sorry I screwed it up. I'll go back and edit it.
Yep. Why is the middle of the field unmanned so much of the time? Happened in the Louisville game. Also the A&M game. I know it is Lupoi's 1st year too but...why is that still happening? Different reasons I know, but still happening nonetheless. Man I hope that gets solved.I am there with you Earl. Blown assignments, poor reads, and, to me, it wasn’t like we were “flying to the ball†like we normally see with our defense. Understandably some of that can be due to inexperience and “thinking instead of reactingâ€Â. And I know this offense is explosive and even on an off day should score 35-40. But it always happens every year where a team plays us like they are the ‘86 Bears and we roll out our B- game. And that is where this defense concerns me.
It was the 2s. So there was a mix but yes it was 2nd string heavy. However, we had pretty bug issues before that.
It seems like communication and assignments are the biggest issues.

I’m not buying the Arkansas is better than their record hype. They may indeed get better as the season goes on, but they were absolutely dismal 5 games in and they flat out moved the ball at will against us. Our linebackers are constantly out of position and like I said earlier look lost half the time. Our db play has been a mixed bag. I only remember these kind of breakdowns on D happening in recent years against Ohio St in 2014 and Clemson twice with Deshaun Watson. Those were NC teams. I don’t know if it’s coaching or player execution, but we need to get better on D if we are going to win a championship. Oklahoma is proof positive that you cannot win a NC solely with a high-flying O.
Bama has a lot better defense than OU last year.
It’s not great. Maybe worst since 2007. This is why I’m not worried:Here are some numbers. Numbers are just numbers, not biased. So, you can take them make what you will out of them.
SEC points allowed (all games)
1. Miss St ……….76
2. Georgia ……..78
3. Kentucky …..83
4. Auburn ……...86
5. Florida ……...89
6. Alabama …...96
Mid-pack is not the standard we are used to and it seems to be getting worse instead of better. This is going to take some getting used to but I will get used to it and not going to let it ruin my day with Mizzou like it did Saturday.
They weren’t yesterday, and besides that, you really cannot draw that conclusion yet anyway. There’s still too much football to be played.

2. Georgia 42.8
3. Ole Miss 42.3
4. Missouri 39
5. Florida 34
We are pacing the field by nearly 2 TDS per game.
Yes but we have yet to face the meat of our schedule, which is extremely backloaded. Not sure those numbers will hold up in November.

C'mon man - OU allowed 31+ points in six games last season and allowed an average of 27 points per game.
Nah, I’m not buying it. LSU will be tough but not tough enough and MSU and AU suck and have to play us at Bryant-Denny. LSU might hold us under 50 but no one else is.
