No offense to Saban, mainly because he's said as much too, but I don't think he knows what to do other than coach at this juncture. He's lived a cleaner life than Bryant so I think he's going to coach well into his 70s at this juncture. Definitely seems like the younger crop of great coaches have been far more willing to take it to the house. Bob Stoops, Mark Richt, and Urban Meyer are all in their mid to late 50s yet they seemed poised to hang it up for good. I'd expect the same for Dabo especially since he seems to have some passions/hobbies that could fill the void football leaves behind. Nick Saban is just from a different background than a lot of these guys and maybe he's just wired a bit differently too.

I've said it before...

If dabos "aw shucks" personality is fake, I hate him. If it's real, I hate him even more. I've never gotten anything but used car salesman from that guy and don't care about his background, history with the school, coaches, etc. I don't like the man and it's my genuine hope that he doesn't coach at Bama, ever.

This isn't based on his ability to coach, as I think he's obviously proven his skills. This is 100% based on who I think this man (that I've never met) is.

I'm sure the University will reference this post one day when going through coaching choices (Blue font.)

Nah, I would guess it'll be an even split Bama/Clemson or slight edge to Bama.

I've been to the past Clemson/Bama match-ups and I didn't see the Bama fans out in force around the game city/event area as much as the Clemson fans but come game time, you guys seem to multiply quickly. Unfortunately I'm not making this year.

Being a Clemson fan, I think he is the real deal and has even given up pay raise opportunities to keep his assistants intact and get them raises. The guy isn't for everyone or other fan bases for the most part but he does things the right way. I'm nervous that one day Bama will come calling but as others have already said, he is pretty well entrenched at Clemson and will get a statue outside the stadium one day. It'll be tough finding a coach to replace Saban whenever he decides to hang it up.

I just don’t see Dabo coming, and why would he? He could be the greatest Clemson coach ever, or he could be just another Alabama coach that may win a NC. Why would he choose the latter?

I have been reading some info about the turf on Twitter and Facebook from the West Coast Turf pages:

"This product was not designed to root in less than a week. It is so heavy it won't be moving."

" It is not designed to “tack down” in a week. This is a special process grown on plastic. It is over 50 lbs/sq ft. It’s not going to move."

Also type of grass is "overseeded bermuda"

I am already anxious too. Not just because I want BAMA to win, but because of the field conditions/injury concerns due to that. We don't need any more injuries.... have not had good luck with injuries lately, including the last few playoffs.

I would not expect Western to say anything else. Deep sod cut or not, there is potential for trouble, although the deeper the better for sure.
