Dylan Moses hurt according to Aaron Suttles

Just stepped off a flight in Houston when a bud texted me this news.

So my assumption was that Moses would step in to call alignments when Josh went down. So who will do it now? Certainly you wouldn’t give that responsibility to one of the true freshman would you?
You could try to have one of the more experienced guys in the secondary make the calls, but eventually one of these guys will have to do it.

and I woke up this morning upset that four starters were going to miss the first half of the Duke game. Now I read this:PDT_lam: on TideFans.com

Apparently we were typing at the same time. Great minds...

G'ahhhh!! Recruiting LB's just got a lot harder, if it wasn't already. "Son, if you go to Bama you'll probably get a ring, and a couple of surgeries, too." Then they list all the season-ending injuries to LB's.

Anyone know if Clemson is having these kinds of problems?

The staff pretty much has no choice but to simplify the defense somewhat. I'd rather the true freshman play fast and know exactly what to do rather than play slow and confused. IOW, play more of a basic defense and let them out-athlete the other team rather than out scheme the opponent..

Shy Carter has continued to say he knows the defense. Not sure Saban would want a DB doing that job, but he might have to.

I was thinking the same. Either Carter or McKinney.

My guess is that we will need to simplify some things these first games.

At this point we have to assume we are not going to make the playoffs. I don’t care how talented a team is, you just can’t lose this many people at one position group.

This obviously stinks for the team and for him but the glass half full is that it happened now and not at the end of the year. They at least have time now to get someone up to speed. Next year's inside linebacker's could be a strength for the team with a full year under their belt. Curious to see if Harris and Benton or Harris and Lee or Harris and Kaho?

Guys... We will be fine. This is a huge concern, but Shane Lee and Harris will get the job done. Like Wmack said... we gotta score lot of points early and then slow the game down.....

While I agree, I also know Nick Saban isn't going to do that. He's said as much in the past.

Suspect he'll look at it with the mindset "an ugly September will make for a pretty November." Let the young guys make mistakes in the games that allow for mistakes so they are prepared for the bigger games.

Really glad Jace Sternberger is already gone from TAMU. Jimbo would have him destroy the middle of the field with two true freshmen at ILB.

Don’t look past Cutcliffe trying to take advantage of that as well.

That tweet is fair, but these guys will have 8 games of experience before they hit LSU, and 12 games of experience before they hit Georgia. They will be ready.

I hate to hear this. Dylan Moses was going to be a key piece to this year's defensive success, and its the one place we couldn't afford to have a loss like this at. I think about the increased need to make the offense stay on the field longer now, to rest the defense. I know the offensive philosophy probably won't change, but I would think you would want to. Just to take pressure off of the defense.

Injuries are part of the game. We have had LB injuries for longer than just the past three seasons. Hightower comes to mind. Let's wish him well and get back quickly.

You're probably right IRT what Saban will do. My concern is against teams like LSU, AU and UGA we can't have ILBs taking false steps and such. If it was me I'd simplify the defense some and let those guys fly around and make plays. We've seen some of our best and most experienced LBs in the past have trouble getting the calls in and everyone lined up. Logistical nightmare with 2 TF in the middle..
