The Man Gripe Thread (MEN ONLY)

Men, we need a place "just for us". A place to air our "man" grievances without fear of retribution. A "safe space" if you will. Feel free (within board rules) to contribute as you need to.


I love all the women in my life, from my wife, my daughter, my mother, my sisters, and yes, even my mother in law (couldn't pick a better one). But good lord sweet baby Jesus. I'll NEVER figure them out. Sometimes they (women) can be like a frayed wire or hugging a dang cactus. I'm trying to adjust to a 14 year old girl and all that comes along with that transition in going from a little girl to a woman AND being caught in the middle of her mother and her's relationship going through the same transition. LAWD HAVE MERCY!!!! (Been a tough week for ole Buzzard in this department) LOL!

Can I get a brutha in the back to raise a mug of beer and gimmie an AMEN??!! :eek2::biggrin2:

Yeah, our dog is male and once the doo-doo starts flying even he tucks tail and gets the hell out of there. LOL! Sometimes we'll (the dog and me) will look at each other and I can tell we're both thinking the same thing. But he can't say anything and I know it's in my best interest to not say anything. LOL!

Split level living room needs painting. I’m getting estimates because neither of us like heights and due to my schedule we prioritize time together when we have it. Last night it was settled, this company, this much money, on this date. Woke up this morning to,” I’m not waiting and I’m not paying that much, I’ll do it myself.” If you need me I’ll be painting and working this weekend all of a sudden.

I can only relate with you because of my wife of 37 1/2 years. We do have two little granddaughters 2 and 4 months so we have not had to deal with all the drama....yet.

I remember 20+ years ago PBS had a week long series on the sexes. They covered all sorts of things - courting rituals, hierarchies, traditions, you name it. Towards the end they talked about differences in brain function, the left being related to the logical and right related to the abstract. They hooked up a bunch of college students to brain function monitors and gave them a math test. For the guys, the left side lit up, and for the women both sides lit up. So I concluded that for a woman, it not just what's 2+2, but how do I feel about it. It was quite a moment of clarity.

Be quite, or go along and be thought a genius. Express disagreement or doubt and be thought a fool or idiot. Silence is golden ! Pick your fights carefully says 46 years of experience. Bumps, bruises and cold, really cold showers never solves any issue. Did I say really, really, cold showers?

I know this has been posted somewhere else on this site before. But I was with a group of folks lately and someone brought up this video. A woman in the group had never seen this. She watched it and then commented that she didn't get it. No way a male will not get this video.

I have a wife, two daughters, two female cats, one female dog, and I’m the only guy where I work. Here are a few things I’ve learned the hard way.

1) Women fart as much as men do. It’s cute when they do it. It’s gross when you do it. Women also pick their nose.

2) When spoken to, stop what you are doing and pay attention. If you are carrying the nuclear football, it’s not as important as the message you are receiving from your woman.

3) A woman will spend as much money as she has. Never carry more then four dollars in your wallet. God help you if you give her a charge card.

4) Women like to smell your clothes. I have no idea what that’s about.

5) If you don’t want to be nagged, fix whatever you are told to fix. Do it now, before the ball is kicked off or guess what. And wipe the shower down with the towel you just used. And carry your dirty clothes to the hamper.

6) Kiss your wife and tell her you love her before going to work whether you love her or not. Studies say you will live five years longer.

Oh yeah ... amen, brutha.
