Thought long and hard about whether to watch this thing at all, and if so who to root for. Dobo's whining about Clemson getting no respect sealed it for me. I hope LSU "respects" Clemson the way they "respected" UCF in 2018. And as a fan of defense, I am hoping to enjoy watching the Orcs of the LSU defense pounding on that Elf Lord of a QB Clemson has.

Lawrence is a very good quarterback, there is no doubt about that. However, I think his running genuinely caught Ohio St off guard. I didn't watch many Clemson games this past year because frankly they really weren't worth watching, but I doubt Lawrence ran it more than 8 times in the first half against any of those opponents because he didn't need to. Now that aspect of his game is well documented and I'm sure LSU will be ready for it. His passing abilities have not seemed to improve over the year and that's where I think LSU can take advantage. Lawrence's passing game seems to not be predicated on accuracy, but throwing jump balls to superior athletes. Stingley, Vincent and Delpit are pretty good athletes in their own right.

Me thinks you need to watch a lot more film on TLaw if you think he lack accuracy...he will be the #1 pick next year in the draft...this kind of response from you is what we all can get ourselves into by just watching and knowing the details of one team (for us Bama) and therefore not know the details of other great players around the country.

Just think of the endorsement deals he will get because of his hair. He will make Baker Mayfield's insurance commercials look bush league. Loreal, Redkin, Suave will all be standing in line to sign him.

I do think he is very talented though.

Quite an assumption to suggest I only watch Alabama games, and I'm not sure why I'm being lectured to by an Alabama fan about how good Trevor Lawrence is, particularly when I said that he is a very good quarterback, but okay. Regardless, I've watched four full Clemson games this year (GA Tech, Texas A&M, Virginia, and Ohio St) and bits and pieces of others. If you watch him in the Ohio St game, he had several completions over the middle where he threw low or behind the receiver, but they made good catches. On top of that, he was 18/33 for the game, which isn't lights out in terms of completion %. Yes, when compared to all power 5 quarterbacks he is relatively accurate, but not for a potential #1 pick. His strengths are in his size and arm strength. I think his game is closer to Justin Herbert's than say someone like Joe Burrow.

Listen...comparing the two quarterbacks based on statistics is simply a mistake. It doesn't take into consideration offensive schemes and, more importantly, offensive coordinators and play-calling. I know he has room fro improvement but having seen TLaw play since he was 8 years old, I can PROMISE you, if he was truly turned loose, his numbers would be staggering. Most of the year the only throws they would let him throw was in the flats or the deep sideline throw. Take the OSU game, it wasn't until the winning drive where they let him (or called) intermediate range, throws over the middle. It took him 4 plays to score that TD. Their play-calling has either been bad, at best, or they are smarter than everyone else and are saving those plays for when they need them. If he were in Brady's offense, I would almost guarantee you, his numbers would be similar to Burrows.

All I'll say about Trevor Lawrence is that if I was an NFL team who wasn't 100% sold on my QB I would already be looking to see how I could draft that guy next year. He's going to turn around a franchise in a big way.

I would be excited about my teams landing him or Burrows. Both can makes all the throws. But if Tua stays healthy (big if), he could rewrite history.

I mostly agree. I rather have Lawrence in the NFL than Burrow though. Dude is better than some people give him credit for because he makes things look easier than they are.

They have been saying it about Lawrence since he was in HS. And in a way they said it about Luck not in the oh this is the next big thing kind of way. I think its different especially since Tua has injury issues. Tua is more consistently accurate but Lawrence can make some throws that Tua simply can't. Specifically, watch Lawrence throw on the run or while rolling out to either side. It's incredibly impressive.

Granted he has a great team around him but if they win this game he will have played and beaten (as a true freshman and sophmore) an undefeated Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and LSU. So far he has 8TDs and 0 INTs in those games.

I say this a lot but I'm not an expert. Just a fan and I didn't buy the TL hype until I watched the Notre Dame game before the NCG last year. But after watching him more I've fully bought in. Maybe I'm a fool idk.

I don't think it is foolish. We all want our teams to win. You think TL is the answer. You might already have the answer in Haskins. Time will tell.

I'm more optimistic about Haskins now. Still iffy on him though we shall see. Either way I don't think we are a realistic landing spot for Lawrence. But I do think whoever gets him is going to be lucky.

If you look at the upper echelon of QBs in the league i.e., Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, Brees, they all have a common trait in that they know exactly where to throw the ball and can improvise when things break down. Watching Burrow this year, he really showed those types of traits.

You need to watch him more. You're right Lawrence doesn't have the wiggle to be Lamar Jackson. But he makes very slight movements in the pocket to avoid pressure and gets the ball out quickly. If you watch some of Chase Young's "almost" sacks vs Clemson you'll see Lawrence moving around to avoid him and feeling the pressure/getting the ball out quick. He doesn't do it in as flashy of a way as some others. Brady is actually a fairly good example of that skill set.

I think Trevor has time to improve since he’s only a sophomore. Burrows is a few years older and improved a lot this year. It will be fun to watch if their teams play each other in a few years in the NFL., along with whichever team Tua is on.

You make a good point - Burrow is actually as good a passer on the move as in the pocket, and he extends plays like a veteran. He scrambles to pass, but will also tuck it and run if there is an opportunity to do so without taking a big hit. He plays beyond his years. I wish him well in the NFL.
