Game Thread: CFP NCG: LSU vs Clemson (7pm CST | ESPN)

Burrow is something special. He hit lot of throws that most QBs can't make... (Except for Tua :)) Burrow will do well in NFL. But here's the harsh reality for LSU Fans. If it was any other qb in that offense... They would've had lot of 3 and outs on that field yesterday. LSU will not be back on that field next year.

Also, I saw few things where I was screaming to the tv last night, " LSU is gonna throw the ball to him..." but I don't know how the guys on the field didn't know that.

Joe Burrow just threw his 60th TD pass of the year.

2014-2017 LSU?

A combined 59.

AP has us at 8th, with UF and UGA ahead, which is a joke...

It's unreal. These Clemson fans actually believe they gave LSU their best game all year. They got beat by 17 and the game was basically over by the end of the 3rd quarter. The entire 4th quarter was just a formality. No doubt in my mind Alabama and Auburn gave LSU their toughest games all year.

But one thing is for sure after watching last nights broadcast and just reading some articles this morning. Alabama has been completely eliminated from the conversation, and sadly one of those comments came from one of our own, Rece Davis. I love Rece to death and he does a FANTASTIC job. But he made a comment on the Scott Van Pelt post game show that basically said Clemson is still the gold standard of football and LSU will be the new representative in the SEC West going forward. I hope Nick Saban and team noticed this as well.

If we ever needed MOTIVATION...

i say let them (lsu, climpson, jawjuh, florida, ok) spend the off season thinking about their rankings, almosts, etc.

I would be willing to bet that those comments were probably "the company line" from ESPN.

I would have thought getting crushed by Clemson last year would have been motivation too, but Bama went 11-2 anyway.

I don't think anyone who's been around or played sports would argue that the amount of injuries we had this season, which forced inexperienced players into action, severely reduced our chances of winning a NC. If you think we should have won the NC with what we endured in the way of injuries and the number of inexperienced players forced into key roles (like calling the defensive plays). You may want to either put the Coach in your handle in quotes or just remove it altogether.

I have lost a lot of respect for Davis lately. I just cannot watch any of the talking heads anymore. It's all staged "media create the narrative" nonsense anymore. Maybe that's all it ever was and I've just lately woke up to it.

I'm afraid you are right...I do think Marcus Spears is pretty honest about his feelings and biases...as is Greg M. However, the "professional commentators" I have no use for...at all.

And with that I'm going for a walk down the beach...check y'all later.

Injuries are the luck part of winning a championship. When we won in 92, we played 13 games. Out of 24 starts per game, we had one starter miss a game (Miami). One out of 312 starts.

I'm not going to say I've lost any respect for him. But I'll be honest, I don't watch Gameday anymore either. I haven't watched game day in several years. I was just a little taken back that he would make such an assertion and declaration based on this one season. Especially seeing the dynamics that made up this LSU season and not taking into consideration what Alabama has coming back. A bit disappointed to say the least.

Here's the thing. And I'm loath to point out ifs and buts as much as anyone. But we lost to LSU by 5 because we totally wet the bed in the 2nd quarter of that game. And Tua was clearly playing at about 75% at best. Then we are without him when we go to Auburn. And despite that, and despite us completely blasting both our feet off with mistakes, we lose by 3. I mean, in essence, both games were lost by self-inflicted wounds DESPITE the injuries. We would have won both games, without any roster changes, if we just don't throw up all over ourselves.

So no, don't tell me there was a motivation issue with this year's team. Lack of motivation had nothing to do with goofy mistakes. Now maybe we need to prepare better. And without a doubt staying healthy (which is completely out of our control) will help. But none of that has anything to do with being properly motivated.

No amount of motivation can overcome being gutted by injuries in the heart of a defense....then having an injured generational QB, then losing him for the season.
