Agreed mostly. My point was that there is at least a chance that Mac is prone to turnovers/pick 6s vs good teams. So while I think its exceedingly likely that Mac wins the job and is the starter all year there is definitely a chance it plays out differently.

Oh no doubt. Most good quarterbacks worth their salt thinks they can make every throw no matter how tight the window. You want that aggressiveness and confidence in a QB. You just want to harness it and refine it. But it's not a bad trait to have.
Maybe. Not sure I would classify the 3 throws in question as a QB being overaggressive though. Regardless, its Macs job to lose
I think Mac needs to be given the same benefit of the doubt any quarterback would be given as a first time starter. There is a natural and expected adjustment period for a player going from a backup role to starter role in general. It's an entirely different animal when that position is the Quarterback position. There's going to common (and expected) mistakes during the adjustment period. That's why I think it's too early to be hyper focusing on a few mistakes made during Jones' first few starts and making judgments about him as a quarterback. Now if we're halfway through the 2020 season (which would be ten games as him being the starter) and he's making those type plays. Then yeah, we may have an issue. But we're not there yet. He's only got four games under his belt as a starter. And only two starts against legitimate competition.
Curios for you QB gurus to weigh in: Is Mac Jones behind/equal/ahead of where AJ was entering the 2012 season in terms of ability/capability?

Honestly, no two QBS are the same. It wouldn't' be fair to compare Mac to AJ at all.
That would be a tough comparison because since AJ our WR talent and just overall offensive skill position talent has gotten exponentially better. And the players around the QB matter. I do see where you're talking about individual skill level though. It appears from my recliner that Jones throws a much more accurate deep ball than AJ. I remember AJ missing A TON of deep balls. Sure, he connected on his share. But he also missed a lot of them as well. It also appears Jones' arm is a bit stronger. But I could be wrong. Maybe someone closer to them can comment.
That's fine if you feel that way...I think others can see they are comparable. Think eventually we'll be comparing Tua to Bryce too.
I'd agree it's a hard comparison to make. I do think Mac has just a little bit stronger arm, and a little bit faster release. On long ball accuracy, that's where your very valid point about WR talent make sit really hard. Mac does seem to be more accurate, but is that because he was throwing to 4 future first round picks who were often very, very open so he could throw to a space and they could run under it, no matter which one it was, or is he truly more accurate in putting the ball into tighter spaces. that one I honestly don't know, but it's at least possible.
I am curious to see how the running back carries shake out this spring. You have Harris, Robinson, Sanders, Robinson, Williams and McClellan. Sanders the number one running back from 2019 class and Williams and McClellan top 10 backs in 2020. Lots of people wanting carries. Brian Robinson might be odd man out this year.
Agree on B. Robinson...he really didn't take advantage of the opportunity last year like many thought he would. I think his '18 success was getting into blowout games when the defense had already given up.
Maybe it was my tv but he just looked very slow getting to and through the hole. There was a noticeable difference in him and the other backs regarding speed and quickness.
You have to put him behind on game experience alone, at this point, but that may it.
Sure, entering 2012 AJ had a whole year's experience under his belt and was coming off a GREAT game against LSU in the 2011 BCSNCG
But I'm thinking more along the lines talent/ceiling
I think BRob becomes a goal line blocker and H Back and the 3rd RB overall. I think it’s Najee and Sanders. And I think KRob becomes a 3rd down back and sometimes slot guy (think young Drake) Maybe even a Wildcat back.
K. Rob has that type speed, quickness and burst to make it REAL REAL hard to keep him on the sidelines very long. Just what little we saw of him I was thoroughly impressed with his physical talents.
Good discussion. I believe Mac is very good and our best option right now...two days before Spring practice. But I would not sleep on Lia. Same is true for BRob.
