My Barner co-worker - who happens to be an alum and also heard it from another source - is, I believe, about a hair's breadth away from leaving work early or else just starting to drink at his desk.

He's randomly muttering and/or injecting into conversations the phrase, "effing Auburn!", over and over.

I almost feel sorry for him. :)
Yep, I have an Auburn acquaintance who normally LOVES to run his mouth and I think his wife may have to put him on suicide watch. He is absolutely sick as to how this is unfolding. He told me "This is an utter train wreck".

I might be proved wrong, but my opinion is that Napier would be a good hire. He was a good WR coach at Alabama and an ace recruiter. He was on staff at Clemson as OC so he knows his way around the SEC footprint and where to find the top recruits. If he were hired, again my opinion, he should keep Kevin Steele as DC. Keeping Steele gives him someone to help with the transition in addition Steele is a helluva of a recruiter himself. He also coached QBs at Clemson and Arizona State so he would be in a position to develop Nix. Finally they could get him for a lot less than some of the bigger names.

Edit: Sometimes I amaze myself with such insight. :alien:
