This is my biggest issue with the Barbie movie (even though I'm sure ill watch it when it's streaming 🤦). I knew this was coming...

Mattel Exces reveal they want to essentially create a cinematic universe following the success of #Barbie    with 14 properties already in active development, including:

• Barney
• Polly Pocket
• Hot Wheels
• Magic 8 Ball
• UNO
• Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots
• Christmas Balloon
• Thomas and Friends
• American Girl
• View Master
• Matchbox
• Wishbone
• Major Matt Mason
• Masters of the Universe

Well you also have to remember we went through 2 GI Joes and Battleship before we got a Barbie. Toy brands don’t usually translate well to the big screen. I think without the star power and visuals shown in the marketing campaign then Barbie would have had a hard time

masters of the universe may have some potential but the others are DOA

Idk that they'll make money but just even making the movies is obnoxious to me.

Pretty sure they're planning a GI Joe and Transformers cross over btw so those universes are dead

All those 80's cartoons based on Hasbro and Mattel properties were basically nothing more than 30 minute commercials. But man oh man, did they work? Yes they did! Now here we are almost 40 years later and it appears that they are attempting to cash in on the same audience only now through nostalgia. Sure, they'll pick up some new fans thus creating a demand for toys, but I know exactly what their core demographic will be.

As far as MOTU goes, I'll admit that I'm guilty of really hoping it doesn't suck so I can go see it. If it's successful, look for the Thundercats to rise from the dead very quickly.

the first Transformers movie was supposed to be a crossover with GI Joe, but I forget why it didn't happen
In the most recent one (not a good movie) they end it with a teaser about a future crossover. And I think the director or whoever said the plan was a crossover at some point
