After losing McCullers and Garcia for the season they needed another starter.Verlander back to the Astros.
Plus Verlander moves back to an organization and front office he has a history with. A win for him and the Astros. If what I'm reading is correct, the Mets are going to pay about 60% of Verlander's salary, so the Astros will pay Verlander less than what they offered him to stay last year, at the cost of two minor leaguers.
Urquidy will be back in the next few days, so the Astros will have 6 starters like last year. They also got Kendall Graveman for some bullpen depth. If Brantley ever gets back we may be seeing Astros/Braves Part 2.Plus Verlander moves back to an organization and front office he has a history with. A win for him and the Astros.
We shall see. We also need Charlie to be good Charlie and not bad CharlieBraves may have been right with very little movement. If Wright, Fried, and Soroka can get October heat then maybe it’s not that big of a deal
That is a lot of "ifs". I do not trust our pitching staff right now. Last night was great but, ever since the AS break, it feels like every team becomes a hit machine against Braves, especially against the bullpen.Braves may have been right with very little movement. The Braves are in the top 5 in runs scored and runs allowed. The pitching is not bad. It is among the best in MLB.That is a lot of "ifs". I do not trust our pitching staff right now. it’s more about consistency. I don’t see us imploding like the Mets did last year but it could be a closer stretch than what we imagined a few months ago. In a weird way… meaningful games in September could end up helping us.The Braves are in the top 5 in runs scored and runs allowed. The pitching is not bad. It is among the best in MLB.
