I don't see it that way. I see a team that's not a passing threat, facing a 8 or 9 man front. I don't like that...
Since lots of TideFans like Milroe for the job, I hope for all of our sakes that offseason practice with our often fumble fingered Receivers pays off. If Simpson becomes the guy I hope he has less turnovers... Milroe and Simpson were not really ready when we called on them last year.
Whoever our QB is, I hope we work our #2 QB real hard and have them ready to come in and play hard.
I still vividly remember Milroe's play last year. Not good.
I hope it's better this year.
The starting QB this season may or may not be Milroe, but it looks like we aren't going to see much production from the position no matter who becomes the starting QB. I say this because no one has stepped up to take the position. Even after Buchner was brought in to add competition to the QB race, we are still waiting around for an answer. Coach Saban said that someone is going to have to force him to start them, but that hasn't happened. It's entirely possible that someone could surprise us; I didn't see Blake Sims playing so well in 2014, and Jacob Coker improved a great deal throughout the 2015 season, but those guys were significantly older than this group. Sims was a 5th year senior and Coker was a senior. Maybe I have a tendency toward cynicism, but I just don't expect much from the QB position this season, but that doesn't mean we will be facing 8 and 9 man fronts all season. If the starting QB (whoever that is) can just make a few good throws to keep the defense honest, that will be enough to back off the linebackers and safties to create space for the running game.

Mac looked great for the most part. I don't think Milroe flashed the same stuff as a passer. BUT he is a great runner and if his passing catches up a bit he'll be a good QB for us.
Milroe was a 50% passer overall last year. I think he's improved over that, and the whole situation has changed from last year. He's not going to be a 70% passer. But with his legs and our RBs, he won't need to be.

With a stout defense and good ground game, Jalen Hurts QB’d Bama to a national title game appearance with 61% passing , 9 picks and 2700 yards passing. Did it again the next year with about the same stats except fewer turnovers.

Turn the ball over once or less per game, make the plays that need to be made when they are needed and the team will do the rest.

AFTER TW0 SCRIMMAGES I CAN SAFELY SAY.......yeah, we still don't know. LOL
Neither does Bama's opponents.................The funny thing is, many in the media are writing stories that it's between MIlroe and Simpson, others are saying different things.............and I am sure its driving everyone crazy, but someone in Tuscaloosa knows...............and he aint telling

Milroe was by far the worst out of the 4. Whatever happened in scrimmage 1 was either the greatest anomaly in history or a vast over exaggeration. Because this was the same bad tendencies we have seen last year and in the spring

Right now the two best are Buchner and Simpson by a country mile.
Yea basically everyone seems to agree with you on Milroe looking pretty horrible

10-21 88 yards with 85% of that coming against the 2nd and 3rd string. Only 1 completion vs first string.

He literally goes for one read and doesn’t have a second read.
Thank you for the updates! My fear is Saban and is gonna be loyal to Milroe(because he's been here longest) the way he was with Jalen over Tua in 2017.

If Buchner and Simpson are that much better than Milroe in the passing game then Buchner and Simpson needs to be taking the majority of the snaps with the 1s from now until game day.

I think the loyalty thing kinda went when Tua came in for Jalen..........but who knows. I think he will go with the best option.............he did say "make me play you"

I'd love to be there and see for myself how they are doing.............lots of conflicting reports on Simpson

Simpson had a good day. Much of the day he went against the 1st string defense and held his own. Buchner was good as well.

Who was better…. I’m split. Because TB is far more confident under pressure while Simpson is better when he gets in a rhythm
