The starting QB this season may or may not be Milroe, but it looks like we aren't going to see much production from the position no matter who becomes the starting QB. I say this because no one has stepped up to take the position. Even after Buchner was brought in to add competition to the QB race, we are still waiting around for an answer. Coach Saban said that someone is going to have to force him to start them, but that hasn't happened. It's entirely possible that someone could surprise us; I didn't see Blake Sims playing so well in 2014, and Jacob Coker improved a great deal throughout the 2015 season, but those guys were significantly older than this group. Sims was a 5th year senior and Coker was a senior. Maybe I have a tendency toward cynicism, but I just don't expect much from the QB position this season, but that doesn't mean we will be facing 8 and 9 man fronts all season. If the starting QB (whoever that is) can just make a few good throws to keep the defense honest, that will be enough to back off the linebackers and safties to create space for the running game.I don't see it that way. I see a team that's not a passing threat, facing a 8 or 9 man front. I don't like that...
Since lots of TideFans like Milroe for the job, I hope for all of our sakes that offseason practice with our often fumble fingered Receivers pays off. If Simpson becomes the guy I hope he has less turnovers... Milroe and Simpson were not really ready when we called on them last year.
Whoever our QB is, I hope we work our #2 QB real hard and have them ready to come in and play hard.
I still vividly remember Milroe's play last year. Not good.
I hope it's better this year.
