Jalen Milroe is now the starter going forward.

Here’s the thing I can’t figure out. The players got what they wanted when Milroe was announced as the starter against MTSU, but then apparently had a tantrum when he was benched after losing to Texas? What did they expect? They honestly thought Saban was just gonna let one player ruin our season? Of course he was benched! You don’t get to pick “your guy” and then throw a hissy fit when he plays like crap.

Or if the defense was playing differently. The defense just loves Simspon and Buchner I guess?
I wouldn’t imagine the D cares who the QB is as long as he doesn’t turn the ball over and make their job harder than it already is. Don’t think they spend a ton of time around the Q B compared to the O. I must say that the receivers effort seems up to par. They seemed a little more up beat once TS came in. But I could b totally wrong.

Like what? He was already calling single read passes and delayed QB runs. He already cut out the short and intermediate slants that he can’t hit.
That’s one thing people simply refuse to see. Rees literally has no chance. Even if he’s a good OC and calls the right plays, MILROE CAN’T MAKE THE THROWS ANYWAY!

Similar opponent in Middle Tenn State: Milroe: 13 of 18; 194 yards; 3 TDs.

And I am not arguing for or against any of them. I am just saying calling TS a "gamer" based on that stat line is silly.
4 had all fall camp to prep for mtsu. Got all the first team snaps in practice the last 2 weeks. Ty got what...2% of first team snaps last week and the rest with the 2's? Coming in, in that situation...after that deluge and delay and doing what he did...yeah, he can game for my team anytime.

I smelled a rat before I even saw the Josh Pate video I posted earlier.

If what I fear is happening we've just entered a new threshold of Bama football and this is not where I thought CNS's tenure would go.

I’m genuinely curious what it will take for the Milroestans to admit they were wrong. A loss to Ole Miss? A loss to aTm? More turnovers? I’m honestly asking. Where is the line?

I’ll reciprocate by saying I was wrong about Milroe if we finish the regular season undefeated, or if we lose one more game and it’s clearly the defense’s fault. I don’t see that happening.
It's all just false metrics in these "clearly obvious" posts I'm seeing on here.

Who knows if Simpson would have lost the Texas game by 30? Who knows if Milroe would have won the South Florida game by 30? Nobody that's who, so I'll trust Saban's judgment on that over my own.

Also, so you're saying Milroe has to be flawless to be the valid pick as QB? When has that ever been the standard? How is that the standard when the entire QB room we currently have is so shockingly weak? You're stacking the deck against him. He will have turnovers. So did Hurts and Coker and McElroy. Heck, we have a center who can barely snap the ball. QB ain't our only issue. In fact, now that I think about it, who are the future NFL first rounders on our starting 11 on offense? I would argue there isn't a single one. That's a dropoff across the board, not just at QB, and it affects the QB's performance.

All this talk of team meeting takeovers, Milroe doghouse and guys not trying is just cope. Those are data points in some people's heads and they lead them to conclusions that are just baseless. They also lead to toxic online churn, which I imagine is why Saban, yes Saban, has tried to settle this at the start of the week.

Or heck, let's just keep living in a fantasy where Coach is baiting us with his starter picks. Sheesh.

Y'all don't blow a fuse when I say this (or maybe do before you fry the circuit) but Milroe IS the best option at this point. He's the only QB with enough athleticism to compensate the O-line deficiencies. He ain't gonna throw for 300 and will have turnovers but unfortunately, we simply do not have the line to protect a pocket passer. This season is going to be a struggle and success will largely depend on our defense.
I disagree. Give Simpson a chance, and I think he could be at least Mac level good by the end of the season. Milroe is just gonna get played exactly like Texas did, and we won't move the ball against a decent team

Benching Milroe was inevitable after his performance against Texas. The confusing thing is choosing to start Buchner. There is simply no way the staff could look at…that…and say “You know what? Let’s give him a chance”.
I agree with all of this. I don't see what happens in practice, but those others must be awful in practice for Buchner to come out of the week as the best option.

So in other words, they care a lot?

No QB in Saban’s tenure at Bama has ever FORCED turnovers the way Milroe does. Committing turnovers is one thing, literally throwing the ball to the other team is another.
