Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Ole Miss...

As always... just my thoughts. I would wait until tomorrow, but this can't wait.

QB- Milroe showed improvements tonight. He took a significant progress tonight as far as his confidence and his ability to make effort to read the field. It wasn't perfect and he made lot of mistakes, but he was able to improve from two weeks ago, and to me that's huge. He'll continue to get better. Just be patient with him. He's a work in progress. I expect him to throw for 300 yards soon. That INT he threw really bother me a lot. He had a guy wide open and he chose to throw to someone who was double teamed. He'll learn from it.

RBs- Nice job tonight. Jase did well tonight. I wish we could've saw other Rbs getting more touches. Saban spent all week saying he want those guys getting more involved, but hey, maybe next week.

OL- Inconsistent performances and they played much better in 2nd half. I can't help but noticed that they were subbing in lot of OLs, and I think we may have found the right combination in late 3rd/early 4th quarter. I think we'll see some change that will be set going forward.

WRs- Brooks may have lost playing time going forward. Hale outworked him. It's nice Milroe is spreading the ball around, but we need a dog receiver. Someone who wants the ball.

DL- underwhelming. They let Dart run several time. They're just not a force in the pocket. We have to develop the DL depth. I think Bama will go to transfer portal to shore up the DL this December. This is glaring issue.

LB- Heck of a job they did tonight! Campbell and Blacksheire are the future. Great job stepping up.
Safety and CBs- Nothing to complain about. I wish Downs had grabbed the Interception, but other than that... nothing to complain about.

Ole Miss covered 3 out of 4 on 4th down... those 2 times were someone missed their assignments. The one where Dart threw on 4th and 26 something, that was a money throw... you can't get mad at that.

Random Stats:
Alabama held the ball for 34 minutes. Ole Miss held the ball for 25 mins.

Bama went 6/13 on third down. Huge improvements.

We should've beat Ole miss by 17 to 24 points. The fact those penalties taking the points off the board.. and I think we've had 5 or 6 touchdowns called back, that's crazy and that tells me if the team cleans up their mistakes, they will be very good team.

This was a huge confidence boost for Milroe and the team tonight. They will carry the moment into next week against Miss State, who can't stop the run.

Concern level: It's still same as last week. 6/10 If we can win convincingly next week.... it'll drop back down to 4/10. If we play another close game with Miss State, it'll go up to 7/10.

Player of the game: Jase.

Bama fans are so spoiled that they don't even recognize a good win anymore.
I think they do. I just think the guys are shell shocked from the first 3 games. Bama hasn't seen performance like those in a very long time. This game is huge. OL was better. Backs ran hard. The D got to their QB several times. I think Milroe had a good game. Nevermind the score...they went thru a full game and owned OM in 2nd half. There are lots of areas to recognize about the game.

Yep...that stunk and I wonder if that was a coverage bust? No way they should have made that conversion. Dart did a good job considering the treatment he was getting. I think he was getting stiff and sore.
LB had the RB out of the backfield and he thought he going to the flat and the RB turned it into a wheel route. LB got behind and couldn’t catch up.

With Bryce Young, it made sense on the goal line. With probably the strongest QB and the biggest OL in the SEC, it just doesn't make sense to me...
Yeah, it’s too bad they didn’t adopt Philly’s tush push play Philly uses with Jalen Hurts, it is almost unstoppable inside of 2 yards.

I thought the d line had a solid outing.

When you say DL are you talking about the 1 or 2 guys over 300 lbs or the 2 OLBs or all of them combined? The 1-2 DL are getting double teamed so that leaves it to the LBs to make those plays.

Milroe played better today than I expected. I haven't seen any really impressive team in the SEC West so we may still have a very reasonable chance to win the division. Looks like the game @ Texas A&M will be the biggest challenge.

When Alabama appeared to score a rushing touchdown during the first drive of the 2nd half, it is likely that the running back would have been stopped if the defender had not been held. I wouldn't cry too much over those "lost points".

I'm glad we didn't lose to Ole Miss, but I'm not sure I'm ready to say it was a good win. The OL allowed so many negative plays in the first half to a pretty average defense. Hard to believe we continue to struggle with shotgun snaps. The defense is very good and it's great to see Malachi play at such a high level. Good second half, but we sure can't afford first halves like that against the rest of our SEC schedule.

Roll tide! Didn’t get to watch the game but the clips and post I caught seemed to be a step in the right direction. Happy for our d to get some licks in

I just can’t believe that the OC did not call a QB SNEAK on 1st and GOAL. And the C would not have centered that snap over the QB’s head. I don’t think there is anyway that Ole Miss could have stopped Milroe from scoring. JMHO!
Even if not a sneak, hand off from under center. Snaps have been too wild to go gun in that situation
