I could see them trying for a big hire and missing out like Ucheat has tried and then settle for Petrino. Petrino won at Arkansas where it is IMO harder to win at. His issue is he has never beat Saban.
Yeah but that was ages ago. Petrino is just another in a long line of "OCs who aren't actually head coach material". Just like Fisher, who they just fired. Just like Kiffin, who they will likely write a blank check. IOW, they never learn.I could see them trying for a big hire and missing out like Ucheat has tried and then settle for Petrino. The why on earth would you suggest this as a good choice?Someone not all that far away from College Station that should be looked at is the Tulane coach. He has done a great job with the Greenies.
Wouldn't that be a great fit...a fake coach for a fake military school.
Oh my goodness. I didn't even think about that one but yeah it makes the most sense. Splash here but not based on substance.
Fake football too. lolWouldn't that be a great fit...a fake coach for a fake military school.
People have always said this, but I’m sitting here asking “Why? Based on what?†Is this just something that’s generally accepted by the masses but it has absolutely no validity?Let's hope they settle on Petrino. Texas A&M should compete for national championships with the right coach.
Surprised to see there wasn't already a who's next at A&M thread, and I'm wondering if Dabo might not be a top target?
Word is he dislikes NIL but maybe that's because the money may not flow as freely in Pickens CO. SC, as it does in Texas. Also, we all recently saw he's pretty upset at the lack of appreciation at Clemson from certain people.
Two other considerations. If Dabo is open to leaving.... he may realize that Bama is not going to call, and the other is he obviously has a strong mutual respect with Coach Stallings and from what I recall Coach was or is on the Board of Regents at A&M.
One other big box he checks and that's beating CNS on the big stage. That could be enough for those folks.
Just a thought..............
Money. Nothing more. Money now buys players. Get the best players with a good coach and you will win.People have always said this, but I’m sitting here asking “Why? Based on what?†Is this just something that’s generally accepted by the masses but it has absolutely no validity?
My vote would be for the Aggies to promote their OC.
I mean, sure. But people have been saying this about aTm for decades, and I never understood it.Money. Nothing more. Money now buys players. Get the best players with a good coach and you will win.
