Bama getting no respect

My answer is the same as it always will be. College football is all about context. More so than any other sport, that is what makes it great. Simply looking at the records isn’t good enough.

Actually, College Football is all about the money.

With one week left in the regular season before the conference championship games, and assuming the below teams win this Saturday we have:
Alabama v s Georgia
FSU vs Louisville
Texas vs Oklahoma State (They beat both Oklahoma and Kansas State)
Oregon vs Washington
tOSU or Michigan vs Iowa

I get the logic but I really don’t see how to keep Alabama out IF they beat the defending champions who haven’t lost in two seasons! That’s a big win and trumps anything the other one loss teams have done.

They kept TCU in the top 4 last year after losing their CCG and they weren’t ranked #1 which won’t change before the final playoff rankings. If we win the SEC-GG in a close one they won’t drop UGA out nor will they move Bama in. The potential of a three-peat is a huge story in CFB and although it shouldn’t factor into the committees formula it will. And it simply will not matter if we obliterate the barn especially after the embarrassment they caused themselves and the SEC yesterday. The playoff system is majorly flawed and CFB as we knew it will never be the same. There’s simply too much money involved, too many wealthy egos contributing to its demise and media influence affecting the committee’s decisions. I’ll never believe all these members are watching all these games and if they are how objective are they really being?

Since Jordan Travis is likely out for the year, FSU will most likely drop a game in the next 2 weeks. That would most likely guarantee us a spot. The rest should sort itself out. All we need to do is take care of our business and we should be in, as long as FSU drops a game

PAC 12 winner
Big 10 winner
Texas
Bama

Georgia is looking fairly tough. I wouldn't pencil them out as of yet.

Here’s the good news. Three teams above Bama will drop below them if Bama beats Georgia.

Either Oregon or Washington will drop below. Either Michigan or Ohio State will drop below. And then Georgia will drop below.

That puts Bama at five. So, that means we only need one additional thing to happen.

Florida State is the easy one. But there are other possibilities. I know it feels like nothing we need to happen is happening. But when you get right down to it, if they beat Georgia, they should be fifth at worst.

Everything else after that, is up to fate

I know this is all speculation, but with Travis out what's to say the Committee won't penalize FSU and drop them anyway?

You’re comparing two different eras with two different postseason systems.

Well that’s kinda like everyone wanting to compare SOS when it doesn’t factor into this postseason system.

The truth of the matter is that Alabama fans are like pretty much every other major fan base in that they consistently inconsistent in how they value postseason resumes. It’s all about what argument gets them in. I guarantee you that if we swapped resumes with Texas then everyone on here would be saying that Head to head ends the argument. Likewise if we swapped with FSU we would be arguing that we are undefeated, beat a common opponent worse on a neutral site, and we should be given a chance because our quarterback is hurt.

Next year these threads and arguments go away and we join the NFL fandom in which there is very little if any controversy about who gets in. The only controversy usually is the one who didn’t belong.

So here is what I see…

B1G - they are about 90% to get a team in. Winner of OSU vs Mich probably beats Iowa and gets in. Loser is probably out. But if Iowa were to win maybe the loser of OSU vs Mich squeaks back in. Mich strength of schedule is so bad though I don’t think they can lose.

PAC - also probably 90% to get in. Wash winning out puts them in for sure. Oregon winning out probably gets them in. Oregon losing to OSU and Arizona getting in the title game and then beating Wash probably shuts the PAC out completely.

ACC - FSU is their only shot. They are weak and lost their QB. If they win out they probably make it but UF and Louisville have a good shot to beat them.

BIG12 - Texas is their only shot. If they win out they probably stay above us. They will face Ok State or OU or Kansas St and could lose to any of them.

So, obviously we need to win out. Assume the B1G gets a spot. We need one of three things to happen; PAC chaos, FSU lose or Texas lose. That guarantees a spot. If none happen, it could still be a nail biting vote between, Bama, FSU, and Texas for two spots.

Well, If Bama doesn’t beat Georgia, we aren’t having this conversation. So for argument sake, Georgia is out.

It didn't help that Bama wasn't prepared for the Texas game. Wrs. we're running uncovered pretty much the whole game. Offensive line was constantly getting beat in the trenches. It was an absolute poor execution from the whole team, even coaching.

If the shoe were on the other foot you would be screaming that Alabama's head to head win had to trump everything else.
An Alabama head to head win would also include superior SOS.

as they should. If the situation were reversed and we beat texas in austin by double digits but lost to say Ole Miss and they inturn lost 2 SEC games, everyone here would have a very different opinion.
Because of SOS including beating a team like Georgia.

Well that’s kinda like everyone wanting to compare SOS when it doesn’t factor into this postseason system.

...Because switching with FSU would mean getting their pathetic schedule and 10 or more teams would also be undefeated against their schedule.
