Bama getting no respect

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I think what "The Four Best Teams" means to the Committee is the four best for College football viewership/interest. They are DYING to place a team from out west and I think they're tickled to have FSU back in it. Of course the best four teams are probably in the B1G and the SEC but if they can use any excuse, they'll put in an Oregon or Washington in the CFP to keep the fans on the West coast in the mix.
If that's the case, and Bama can't make it into the playoff even with the win over UGA, I hope Georgia just beats us and slaps everyone down to the ground so the committee and media can soak in the SEC domination.

1) Alabama is getting in with 2 more wins. All of this is just silly hypotheticals of some doomsday scenarios. Yes we will feel better should FSU lose but at this point it’s almost a sure bet the SEC is getting in.

2) Even if we couldn’t get in… I would say this season is a great success if we knocked Georgia out and was rewarded with playing Tulane in the peach bowl. I could live happy with that outcome even if it meant not winning a national championship. Hell I would probably buy Peach bowl tickets just to have an excuse to wear a SEC Championship t shirt in Georgia again.

Doesn't matter if the website says "The Four Best Teams". What matters is their criteria to determine "The Four Best Teams".
Exactly! Just because some like to claim we were one of the four best teams last year does not mean we were. We lost 2 games and nearly lost 5. We looked like crap most of the season. However, if we had an argument, I think we had a better one against OSU than against TCU. TCU only lost in an extra conference championship game that neither OSU nor Bama qualified to play. Bama had 2 last play losses on the road in very tough venues and lost by a total of four points. OSU was blown out by their main rival at home by a bunch. Regardless, all we can do this year is beat AU and then beat UGA. If we can't, it won't matter. Roll Tide!

If we win out and defeat UGA and still don't get in, I want Texas in the Sugar Bowl.

Can’t happen because the sugar is a semi. The SEC alternate or SEC champ is most likely heading to the peach bowl to play most likely Tulane. The cotton bowl is likely to take the place of the Rose Bowl in the B1G vs PAC 12 matchup.

So we have one example of a backup quarterback coming in and the team being as good, or better?
They won it all, so it's proof you cannot knock a TEAM for losing one player, regardless of how important you THINK that player is to the team. It doesn't have to happen more than once to prove it's possible.

If FSU can beat UF and Louisville without Travis, how could anyone say they don't deserve a spot in the CFP?

It's a team sport.

I‘m genuinely impressed with you optimism in point 1, given how absolutely ludicrous the committee is this year.

#1 is along my line of thinking. A one loss SEC Champ in Alabama that just defeated an unbeaten team looking for its third national title in a row in UGA would almost certainly be in. At least in my mind, assuming a win over Auburn, the committee will treat the SECCG almost like a “quarterfinal game” with the winner getting in.

The problem is the committee clearly has no plans to move us up. They made it clear how they felt about Bama by initially ranking us at 8 and keeping Oregon ahead of us, despite us having a far better resume. We will still be 8 after we beat the Barn, assuming everyone ahead of us wins. It would not shock me for the committee to keep UGA ahead of us even if we beat them in the SECCG. I don’t know what Bama did to this committee, but they just HATE us.

I think that if we beat Georgia and everyone else keeps winning that we are both out of luck. Crazy.
